Diversify is a month long game-jam-style mobile game competition for Android aimed at publishing a set of short mobile games on Google Play about inclusive and intersectional experiences. Gay Gaming Professionals will select the top 5 games to be awarded a development fund for further polish to make the games ready for Google Play upload by January 31, 2024.

Please fill out a Terms and Conditions Form by December 3, 2023! If you're making a game with a team, make sure every team member submits a form separately. You will not be eligible for the prize fund if you don't submit an agreement.

Theme of Jam

Whether it is by telling a personal story or coming up with a wholesome mechanic about loving others, we want to push your imagination to create games that are joyful while remarking on the power of positive impact.

Jam Rules

All games submitted to the jam are required to be made within the time frame of the jam. We will not accept games made prior.

Please refrain from making games centered around violence, blood, abuse, or topics that can be negatively triggering.

In participating in this jam, you commit to creating a functional and polished demo that can serve as a pitch for competing within the prize pool. If you or your team is selected as one of the Top 5 games of the jam, you will need to commit to further polishing and iterating on the game to release it in the Google Play Store on or before January 31, 2024. 

We will only accept one game per person. You cannot join multiple teams and receive credit for multiple games.

Legal

Anything you make during Diversify is your property. Gay Gaming Professionals claims no rights or ownership of your game. 

Any game submitted may show up in Gay Gaming Professional's social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, and Discord) and our Twitch channel without your expressed permission. 

Who can participate?

US residents who are 18 years or older at the time of registration can participate in the jam.

What Platform Can I Use to Make My Game/Experience?

To qualify for the prize pool, just must port your game to Android and submit an APK file.

We will not accept analogue games, games created in proprietary platforms, VR games or games that require an emulator to run.

What Assets Can I Use? 

Any assets that you have made, purchased, or downloaded with proper licensing are permitted.

Who Will Judge the Games? 

We will have professional developers from the Gay Gaming Professionals network play the games and select winners between December 4 - 10, 2023.  Winners will be announced and notified via email on December 11, 2023.

What Will the Games be Judged on?

Quality, creativity, and relation to the theme. The judges will be picking their favorite games for the prize pool.

What is the Breakdown of the Prize Pool ?

The judges will select the Top 5 games and award each winning team $2,000 USD. Half of the prize money will be awarded as part of the selection and the second half will be awarded upon the game being successfully uploaded to the Google Play Store on or before January 31, 2024.

Is There a Discord I Can Join? 

Yes! Please join Gay Gaming Professional's Advanced Android Makers server. A channel for the game jam will be open for you to use on November 1. You'll be able to talk to other jammers to brainstorm, form teams, and receive feedback  or help.
