What is the DarkFic Jam?
A month long game jam to create narrative games featuring darker themes. Whether it's pure snuff, a tasteful critique on media or the state of the world - we welcome your twisted fantasies and cruel designs.
This jam is unranked and there are no prizes offered. This is a casual game jam where beginners are welcomed, and it's more of a way to encourage folks to make something new, and practice making games.
I also made this because I'm a freak who wants more games that explore depravity and despair.
What are the rules for the DarkFic Jam?
- AI Generated content of any kind will be disqualified for the game jam. We want to see real freaks here, MADE WITH HUMAN HANDS.
- You may use publicly available assets (e.g. sound effects, music, sprite packs, etc) but be sure to credit the artists accordingly.
- Please include content warnings for potentially triggering material, photosensitive effects, or other health / safety concerns in both your game and on the game page itself.
- Games submitted may only depict fictional characters and scenarios. Getting inspired is fine, but don't base it off real people.
- Sexually explicit / graphic violent content is permitted for the jam. Just be sure to properly tag them.
- You may submit demos, or games that were being worked on prior to the jam as long as it fits the theme, and there is significant progress made during the game jam.
- Any game submissions found to be irrelevant to the game jam will be immediately disqualified.
- All submissions must not violate copyrights, trademarks, or other third-party legal rights, nor contain illegal or harmful content.
