A game jam is a competition where you're tasked to create some sort of game! Everyone will work on their submission for the same amount of time and then you'll submit at the end. After, people will judge and rate your submission. If you do well enough, you can win some prizes!!

For more info, or to ask questions, please feel free to make a post in our itch.io community forum

Theme

Your game should conform to the theme presented here. How you want to interpret the theme is up to you, but more inventive and interesting applications will receive a better score!

You should specify in your submission which secondary themes you chose and why you chose them. Our themes revolves around Halloween and the pandemic, but you are free to interpret them however you like.

Submission

Your submission can be anything you want (get creative!), but we encourage tabletop and non-digital games. Some examples would be:

  • A tabletop RPG
  • A storytelling game
  • A board game / card game
  • A choose-your-own adventure story
  • A parlor LARP
  • A megagame

But, we would love to see non-tabletop submissions too! For example,

  • A video game (Should be able to be played on all major operating systems)
  • A short story / visual novel
  • A comic book

Rules

  • We encourage working in teams, but please only submit once
  • Your submission should be able to be consumed in less than 90 minutes
  • If it is multiplayer, it should be able to be playable by 4 or fewer players
  • If your game has rules, the rulebook should be no longer than 4 pages

Scoring

After the submission deadline has ended, each participant will be assigned some of the games to rate. Anyone can rate any game (and you can rate more than your assigned games!) but you should at least vote on the games you were assigned.

Your submission will be evaluated by your peers in the following categories (on a scale of 1-5):

  1. How well the submission used the theme
  2. How fun the submission is
  3. The overall quality of the submission (amount of effort, polish)
  4. Overall score

These are subjective but we hope that everyone will be honest and generous in their ratings!
