This is a relaxed jam that will run through the entirety of May, with the goal of having fun making custom cursors old-web style!

You can create anything from a single pointer to a whole cursor pack, and make as many or as few submissions as you like.

✛ How to make custom cursors ✛

➤  Cursors use .CUR and .ANI files for animated cursors. I personally use PAINT.NET with this plugin to make them

➤  You can also convert .PNG to .CUR files here, with the limitation that it will be static and the hotspot must be in the top left corner

➤  You are also welcome to upload .PNG and .GIF files - although it will be hard to use these to customise your computer's cursor, it would be possible to use them for games/websites!


➤  If you use Windows, you can find your system's cursor files in Windows\Cursors and use them as a base if you want


➤  I recommend using a 32x32px canvas for standard cursors

➤  Here is a cursor pack I uploaded to itch, and here is a library of custom cursors for inspiration

✛ How to add custom cursors (Windows) ✛

To switch cursor schemes, go to Settings > Mouse Settings > Additional Mouse Options and navigate to the Pointers tab.

To manually set cursor appearance: On the Pointers tab, click Browse to customise each cursor separately, then Save As... to name as a new scheme.

I don't know much about how to customise cursors on Mac, but Mac users are welcome to take part!

✛ Submission Guidelines ✛

I put my cursors in the Tool category, but you are welcome to put them in Game Assets or really whatever you feel best fits.  

You can submit things you started before the jam period, there’s no strict rules about that!
