TO EXPORT YOUR GAME
- In the top bar of Godot under "Project" click "Export"
- Godot uses export templates to understand how it should export to a platform
- Web is the easiest as Itch can play the game directly in browser
- Add a template by clicking "Add..."
- Select the platform of your choice. If you see an error, it is because the template has requirements, for example: web you may need to download the template and android needs a java SDK
- Click "Export Project" or "Export to PCK/ZIP"
TO SUBMIT YOUR GAME
Join the jam
Upload your game to itch.io
- Sign in to itch.io
- Go to your creator dashboard (click the drop down in the top right and then press "Dashboard")
- At the bottom of the dashboard, press "Create New Project"
- Set the title, set the type of project to downloadable or HTML for web based projects
- Upload your project
- Change any other settings, add screenshots, make it cool! This is how people find your game and decide if they want to play it
- Set "Visibility and Access" to draft
- Save! You can now see what your itch page looks like
- Test it. Download your game or play in the browser and make sure everything works.
- Set the visibility to public and save
- To add your teammates, make sure your game is published. Edit the game's page and in the top bar under "More". Click "Admins"
- Type your teammates itch username and click "Add admin". Do this for all teammates!
Submit to the jam!
- Click "Submit Your Project" on the jam page
- Select the project you just made in the drop down
- Select the team you were on
- Press submit!
