What Is The Crossy Game Jam?

The Crossy Game Jam is an event designed for beginners, where participants are tasked with creating their own version of a Crossy Road-style game, incorporating a unique twist. The theme will be revealed at the beginning of the jam, giving developers three days to develop their game.

Why join?

  • You haven’t made a game in a while, and this is a fun opportunity to make a game and have a good time.
  • There is a game engine that you've been meaning to try.
  • Low-pressure environment with no stakes.

Theme - Trade Offs [Optional!]

Note: Following the theme is not mandatory! It's simply there to assist and inspire your ideas. Ultimately, the key is that you've created a Crossy Road game, gained some knowledge, and enjoyed the process—that's what truly counts.

 Participation Who can enter?

Anyone, from any location, is welcome to participate. You may work solo or in a small group. Ensure you have an itch.io account and click the "Join Jam" button on this page prior to the start of the jam.

 Dos and Don'ts

  •  Your game must be in English if it has dialogue or text.
  • No NSFW games. (Young people are attending here too.)
  •  It is okay even if you don't follow the jam theme and want to create something on your own. Just make sure it is a project that you started working on when the Jam starts.
  •  You can use any assets (e.g. fonts) from the internet as long as you have the correct licenses for them.
  • Include credits in the description such as names of your teammates, roles within the team, and the assets you’ve used.
  •  You can also credit any tutorials and links that have helped you make this game.
  • The game can be a web or .exe build. As long as it does not contain any malicious malware etc.

 Suggestions & Encouragements

Building your game for the web is highly recommended to avoid the need for downloads. Providing feedback to game creators is also encouraged.

- While this is only a small jam, I hope that this opportunity can rekindle the spark of passionately creating games.-

See you there!
