Cosmic Craftathon (Theme)

Participants in this game jam are tasked with developing a 2D space exploration game. The theme encourages creativity in designing gameplay mechanics that allow players to navigate space.

Eligibility Criteria:

• The event is open to all students studying at any college/university are eligible. 
• The team participants should be aged 14 or above.  

Rules And Guidelines:

• All the team members should be from the same University/College.
  • No limit on the number of teams per college.
  • Team size can range from 1 to 5 members.

• Game Jam Format:
• The competition consists of two rounds: Online (Round 1) & Offline Finale (Round 2)
• Round 1 of the Game Jam will be hosted on itch.io.
• The top 4 shortlisted teams from Round 1 will be invited for Finals at IIIT Nagpur Campus. 
• Round 1 carries a weightage of 60% in the overall scoring
• Round 2 (Finale) contributes 40% to the final score 
• The round 2 theme will be revealed on the day of commencement of round 2.

• Game Parameters:
  • Teams can use any game engine.
  • The game can be played by a wide variety of audiences without installing any kind of software other than the game itself. 
  • The game must be published and submitted through the itch.io page and must comply with the submission criteria given below. 
  • The game can be distributed to the audience without violating any licensing or Terms and conditions of the game engine or the assets used. 
  • The game must not be a copy of any existing game, it should be unique.
• Judge's Decisions:
  • Decisions of the judges and organizers are final and binding.
  • Any public/free-to-use resource needs to be credited.
  • Usage of Pirated assets and content will lead to disqualification.

•  Asset Usage:
  • Participants are allowed to use individual assets.
  • Usage of full scenes or pre-made game prefabs is not allowed.
  • For detailed guidelines, participants can contact the coordinators.

Finals:

• The candidates will be given a time of 12 hours to work and perform required modifications on their game.
• Number of participating finalists: 4 teams
• All the finalist teams have to reach the IIITN Campus for this event on or before 24th October, 2024.

NOTE : All the participants are required to bring their own laptop/setup for the final round

Judgment Parameters:

• Games will be evaluated based on the following parameters:
  • Adherence to the theme of the competition.
  • Quality of gameplay mechanics and strategic elements.
  • Effectiveness of narrative and storytelling.
  • Demonstrated innovation and creativity in the game concept.
  • Visual aesthetics and overall design quality.
  • Enjoyment factor for players.

The candidates will be informed of the result through the official Tantra Fiesta/Dimensions mail on their registered e-mail.
