Rules
Who Can Join
- Students of Santa Monica College can participate.
- Participants are welcome to invite outsiders.
- Beginners are also welcome and highly encouraged to participate! As the best way to learn game development is by doing.
Game Compatibility
- You must upload a digital game to itch.io, which is playable by someone using a PC, with only a keyboard or mouse.
- It should not require additional hardware or software to run.
Content Suitability
- The game should be suitable for a general audience as it will be presented in an educational institution.
- So please avoid Strong/hateful language, excessive gore, nudity, or inappropriate visuals.
Assets
- You may use pre-existing code, artworks, or audio that you may legally use.
- Credit all external artworks or audio in the game description.
- Don't create assets specifically made for the game jam ahead of time.
Generative AI
- You must not use generative AI to create art, narrative, or audio assets for your game, or your Itch.io page.
- Make it yourself, or find someone with the skills!
- It could be used for generating ideas but assets must be made by you or your teammates.
- It's hard to separate AI and programming as it's integrated in most IDEs so if any code makes use of AI, it has to be clearly stated by a comment.
Voting
- When the jam ends, there's a five-day rating period where uploads to the jam will be locked, meaning you can no longer provide bug fixes, additional versions, or extra levels.
- Everyone is invited to play the games and rate them against five criteria: Gameplay and programming, Enjoyment, Art, Audio, and Story.
Legal
- Anything you make during the Corsair Game Jam is your property.
- Corsair Game Jams hold zero rights or ownership of your game or artistic assets.
- Once the voting period is over, you're free to update your game however you please, charge for it, release it on other platforms.
