This game jam is open to everyone of all ages, skill levels, and team sizes using the Construct Game Engine! Meet new people, collaborate with friends on a cool project, or work on that solo project you've been daydreaming about!

The theme is: Chicken!

As a reminder, chicken can also mean coward, or can refer to the game theory concept of brinkmanship (two drivers heading for a crash, the first to swerve is the "chicken")

All Construct users are invited to join the first annual Construct Jam!
No matter if you are a veteran Construct user or trying out the engine for the first time.

The jam will start on January 9, 2026 and end on January 19, 2026, both at 6:00 PM (USA Eastern Time).
That’s a total of 10 days, including two weekends! The theme will be announced when the jam begins.

You have 10 days to create a game. Your goal is to make something fun while using the theme announced at the start! You can use premade assets as long as you have the rights to use them and give proper credit. No copyright or trademark violations, please.

Once your game is uploaded to Itch, community judging begins. Submissions will not be accepted past the deadline, so submit early!

After the community voting ends, the judges will play the top-rated games to decide the winners.

The games will be assessed in the following categories:

Gameplay
How much did you enjoy your time? Did you finish the game? Would you love to see a full version?

Visuals
Were the visuals striking, interesting, or unique?

Audio
Did the sound and music fit the game well? Was there variety or clever use of audio?

Theme
Was the theme used effectively or in a creative way?

Innovation
Was the concept fresh or technically impressive?

Each game will be rated by fellow jammers. You must rate 5 games before you can rate specific entries. After ratings close, judges will review the top games to select winners.

Can my game have AI visuals or music?
No. Game jams are about creativity, collaboration, and artistry. Don’t worry about fancy art, do your best or team up with others!

How can I submit my game?
Create an HTML build of your game and upload it to Itch.io. Set it to “Play in browser.” That’s it! Browser builds are highly highly encouraged, you will get way more players and its easier for everyone involved (plus faster export for you!)

Can I work with multiple people?
Yes!

Can I reuse events/logic/assets from a previous game?
Please avoid copy-pasting from old projects. It’s better to start fresh and challenge yourself!

Can I submit my game to another jam?
Yes, as long as development on your Construct Jam Submission began after Jan 9th, 2026.

Which engines can I use?
Construct Classic, Construct 2, or Construct 3.

Can my game contain NSFW content?
No pornographic, nude, or explicit material. We want to proudly showcase all submissions!

When can I submit my game?
Any time before the rating period begins. Once the timer expires, submissions close automatically.
