The Connecticut College Game Jam invites students of Conn College to work together in team of up to 5 to make the best possible game they can in just 60 hours. From April 4th at Noon to April 6th at Midnight.
All entries will then be judged and ranked by our three judges. Professors Lee and Izmirli, as well as friend of the SAB, indie game developer Lily Valeen! Winners will be announced at an event on Friday April 18th.
Rules:
- You may compete on your own, or on a team of up to 5 people! Try working with people who have experience in areas you don't!
- The game must in some way relate to the theme of the jam, to be chosen at the kick-off event at the beginning of the jam. How each team chooses to interpret the theme can be very broad.
- For the ease of our judges, and your peers who want to play your games, all submissions must be playable in some form on the web or on both Windows and macOS. All game engines in the resource document have this capability.
- Besides adhering to the theme and the above rule, there are no restrictions on what type of game you can make, including engine, genre, or gameplay.
- You may use resources you’ve made, such as code, graphics, or sound, prior to the Jam in your game. However, please ensure a majority of your work is done during the jam period.
- Similarly, you may use resources/assets found online as long as you have the rights to use them non-commercially, and be sure to credit the source in your submission. However, we encourage you to find people who can perform roles you can not before turning to online assets.
- You may not use generative AI to make assets such as graphics, music, or dialogue. We want to see what you are capable of in the time limit, not an AI.
- You may use AI to assist you in writing code, but a majority of the code should be your own.
- Give yourself a good 45-60 minutes before the deadline to submit your project.
- Before you submit, add a file called "readme.txt" that includes the name of all your team members, the team name if you have one, and all the accreditation of what software and assets you used.
- Feel free to reach out on the Discord (coming soon) if you ever need help!
- Take breaks, eat, and sleep! Please!
I wish everyone the best of luck!
