The Composer Weekend Jam is a music jam, for composers of all levels to challenge themselves to create something new in a weekend in a controlled stress environment. Like traditional game jams, collaboration is highly encouraged. Perhaps you have someone else add a layer to your audio, maybe you mix someone else's track. The sky is the limit!

This event is run by ScoringTech.net - be sure to check out the blog for some good music related content.  Be sure to join our discord- we can use that to give feedback or discuss the tracks at the end of this jam or prep for future iterations of our monthly jam.

Rules & Guidelines

You can compose in any genre or style you like as long as you relate your music to the theme Music must be original and written during the time of the jam Though Itch is a game centric site, you do not need to be a "game composer" to participate! Music of all kinds is allowed and encouraged Music generated via ai rather than written is not allowed.

Aim for at least 90 seconds. Quality over quantity, but feel free to go longer if desired.

We will be ranking these on three categories (though we may add more if our discord community wants to!) 1. Best overall - the overall best/most enjoyable piece that also relates to the picture they chose 2. Production - this is the piece with the most polish. Great mixing, great production, great sound design etc. May not necessarily be the best piece of music, but from a production standpoint it is STELLAR 3. Creativity/Uniqueness - for all you oddballs (like myself) out there, this is your chance to shine. FInding a unique approach, exploring a unique idea, using different sounds etc.

Projects can be submitted in a .wav or .mp3 file. If there are interactive elements feel free to submit a screen cap of your wwise project and showing off interactivity

Theme:

RESCORE A VIDEO GAME That’s right, pick your favorite video game soundtrack and attempt to make a new score for it as if it were the first time. I highly recommend going through the process of conceptualizing a score rather than just doing something in the same style the game had already (though that is totally ok if that’s what you want to do!)
