Welcome to the Colossal Kaiju Jam!

Godzilla, Gamera, Pacific Rim, Kaiju No. 8... who doesn't love rampaging monsters and epic kaiju battles? In this jam, you'll have the chance to create a game about your own strange creatures and their enemies... be it other monsters, mankind, or something else entirely. You'll have 3 weeks to create something awesome, and then the week-long voting period begins.

The goal of this jam is to bring some innovation to the kaiju genre. Please avoid using existing IPs and create a giant monster of your own! Feel free to draw inspiration from existing sources.

YOUR MISSION: Create a game about giant monster(s).

You do not have to play as the giant monster; you could be mankind trying to defend against it. Or, you could make a monster brawler where the only characters are giant monsters. All that matters is that giant monster(s) are central to the game. The game does not need to feature more than 1 monster, but it can. The more, the merrier!

Theme: Fire / Water

You only need to include fire or water, but you can include both.

Some questions to get you thinking: what are the kaijus' powers? What are the kaijus' origins? Do humans use any special weapons to fight the kaiju? Do any of the entities in the game have weaknesses or resistances? What about the map/setting? Maybe the game takes place in a coastal setting, or a volcanic one... the theme is up for interpretation! Have fun with it.

The theme doesn't have to determine what your kaiju are-- it only needs to be incorporated in the game in some meaningful way.
