What is this?

This is an in person game jam where you will make a game in 3 days based on a theme announced when the jam starts.

More information is available at coloradogamejam.com. The primary jam will take place at the CU Boulder campus in Colorado.

What if I'm a beginner?

Beginners are encouraged to participate! During the jam, we will have mentors volunteering and helping out teams. If you're new to game development or want to learn new skills, this is a great place to do it!

Entry and Teams

Anyone can enter, but the jam is in person. Teams of up to 4 people can be formed and at least 1 member must attend in person. If you don't have a team, don't worry! We will do our best to form groups before the event. You may also enter individually. For more information and to actually enter, see our signup form. All members of a team must fill out the signup form. You must enter the jam through this itch.io page AND using the signup form.

NO GENERATIVE AI IS ALLOWED. You may not generate content with AI. (Special note about Farclip: Farclip.ai is not generative AI, meaning it cannot generate content. It suggest path finding based on data they were given from gameplay from major studios. Farclip uses AI in a research and academic sense and is not generative. Please reach out to Farclip or our team with questions.

You may use AI for research and learning new skills. We understand it can be useful in some situations these days.

You may not use any assets that you own if they were made outside of the jam dates. 

Violations to any rules will result in you being disqualified and banned from future Colorado Game Jam events.

Prizes

• 1st place: $200 cash from Farclip + 1 year of Farclip and $100 steam gift card from Upsidedown Cake Studios
• 2st place: $100 cash from Farclip + 1 year of Farclip
• 3st place: $30 cash from Farclip + 1 year of Farclip
• Farclip Choice: $50 cash from Farclip + 1 year of Farclip

The prize will be evenly split between each team member. Rankings are decided through community voting once the jam is over. We will use the winner of the Overall category. The Farclip choice prize is given to Farclip's favorite game that uses Farclip.
