Before the jam begins, we all come up with a story. It could be existing, or we could invent something original. Then, once we know how many individuals and teams are participating, everyone gets a part of that story to adapt into a medium of their choice, be it a game, writing, comic, or something else entirely! Once we’re finished, we’ll have one long narrative experience!
For example, if we did Cinderella, it might break down like this:
- A comic about Cinderella’s backstory: her mother dying, her father remarrying, etc.
- A Diner Dash-type game where Cinderella has to keep up with all the chores the stepmother and stepsisters are telling her to do
- A written piece about the prince organizing his ball
- A dress-up game where you play as the fairy godmother
- A timed game where Cinderella has to complete certain tasks at the ball by midnight
- A puzzle game where the prince must find Cinderella
At 6 PM EST on January 7th, we’ll decide either on the Community page or a Discord server what story we want to tell. Once we have, we’ll assign everyone a section.
We have now decided on a story: Beauty and the Beast!
Rules:
1.) Can be any kind of creative work—game, writing, comic, etc.—as long as it tells the part of the story you were assigned.
2.) No NSFW or hateful (racist, homophobic, etc.) content.
3.) Please try to join before 6 PM (18:00) EST on January 7th.. You can still join afterward, but you may not be able to help decide on a story. If story sections are already assigned when you join, either 1.) you’ll join an existing team, or 2.) you’ll be assigned the same story section as another person or team as a backup.
4.) You can work alone or in teams. We just need to decide who’s going to work with whom before we assign sections of the story.
5.) You’re welcome to join even if you’re a beginner!
