๐ต Curdle Chiptune Jam #3 ๐ต
๐ท In this Jam, you will be tasked with creating a brand new original chiptune composition within 48 hours.
๐ท Theme, Tracker, and Limitations are given when the jam starts, which will be unique to each chiptune jam.
๐ท A starter file with the exact tracker version and pre-set instruments will be provided (you can add your own instruments on top of the preset ones)
๐ท A showcase of all the music submitted will happen right when the jam ends
๐ถ JOIN THE DISCORD to jam with us and participate in regular game dev related challenge events
๐ท Events in the community include bimonthly game jams (Curdle Jam), animation jams, chiptune jams, as well as weekly speed art prompts every Friday on the twitch stream. The twitch stream is game-dev forward and I develop my games there as well.
--------------------------
๐ท Submissions will also be released on SoundCloud as a single playlist to listen to whenever, or use in game jam submissions
๐ท Anyone that uses your music for future game jams will be asked to credit you in their game, but releases will be CC0.
๐ท Create and adapt your tune to the given Theme
๐ท Tracks must be created within the given Chiptune Tracker (exact version will be given when the jam starts)
๐ท Base your track from the starter file and pre-set instruments within that are relevant to the theme
๐ท Adding additional instruments is encouraged, as the pre-set instruments won't necessarily cover all the bases
๐ท Tracks must loop seamlessly, or have a seamless looping point
๐ท If your song has an intro and outro outside the loop, then submit both a looping version and a full version
๐ท Tracks must be anywhere between 30 seconds and 4 minutes in length
๐ถ You will be required to submit your project file, as your tune will be showcased from tracker playback
๐ท We will play the rendered sound file as well, listening to every song two times each. You're permitted to do some light mixing to the rendered file.
๐ถ Ensure you attach each file separately. No compressed folders please.
๐ถ Project files must be in the tracker project format and rendered files in WAV format only.
๐ท Samples may be used within the tracker (DPCM for FamiTracker, and etc) but are limited to the ones provided in the Starter Kit
๐ท Module limitations may be specified, but not every time
๐ถYouโll be assigned one specific tracker and version at the start of the jam. You must use the exact one provided. No substitutions. Possible trackers include:
๐ถBamboo Tracker โ Sounds of PC-98 ๐ถFurnace Tracker โ Sound of Genesis, Game Gear, TurboGrafx-16 ๐ถFamiTracker โ Sound of NES/Famicom ๐ถGoatTracker โ Sound of C64
๐ถLSDJ - Sound of GameBoy, Runs on a GameBoy Emulator
๐ถSNES Tracker - Sound of Super Nintendo
๐ถ1tracker โ Sound of Atari 2600, and more obscure systems
๐ถWaveTracker - Lets you draw your own wave forms to track with
๐ถ Occasionally, the Chiptune Jam may require you to use a given SoundFont from a specific game instead of a Tracker, which can be used in a DAW of your choice in a variety of ways, so be prepared for that potential variation as well.

๐ท Work with the simplest possible ideas and expand from there
๐ท Rely on the Starter File, it is your friend
๐ท Get familiar with the community and ask for help when you're stuck
๐ท You do not need any musical equipment to participate in this music jam, just a mouse and keyboard
๐ท If you have no prior music experience, don't worry. This will be a great way for you to learn and grow using the abilities you have.
