🔶 JOIN THE DISCORD to jam with us and participate in regular game dev related challenge events
🔷 Events in the community include bimonthly game jams (Curdle Jam), animation jams, chiptune jams, as well as weekly speed art prompts every Friday on the twitch stream. The twitch stream is game-dev forward and I develop my games there as well.
--------------------------
🔷 Submissions will also be released on SoundCloud as a single playlist to listen to whenever, or use in game jam submissions
🔷 Anyone that uses your music for future game jams will be asked to credit you in their game, but releases will be CC0.
🔷 Tracks must be created within the given Chiptune Tracker (exact version will be given when the jam starts)
🔷 Base your track from the starter file and pre-set instruments within
🔷 Adding additional instruments is encouraged, as the pre-set instruments won't necessarily cover all the bases
🔷 Tracks must loop seamlessly, or have a seamless looping point
🔷 If your song has an intro and outro outside the loop, then submit both a looping version and a full version
🔷 Tracks must be anywhere between 30 seconds and 4 minutes in length
🔶 You will be required to submit your project file, as your tune will be showcased from tracker playback
🔷 We will play the rendered sound file as well, listening to every song two times each. You're permitted to do some light mixing to the rendered file.
🔶 Ensure you attach each file separately. No compressed folders please.
🔶 Project files must be in the tracker project format and rendered files in WAV format only.
🔷 Samples may be used within the tracker (DPCM for FamiTracker, and etc) but are limited to the ones provided in the Starter Kit
🔷 Module limitations may be specified, but not every time
🔶You’ll be assigned one specific tracker and version at the start of the jam. You must use the exact one provided. No substitutions. Possible trackers include:
🔶Bamboo Tracker – Sounds of PC-98 🔶Furnace Tracker – Sound of Genesis, Game Gear, TurboGrafx-16 🔶FamiTracker – Sound of NES/Famicom 🔶GoatTracker – Sound of C64 🔶LSDJ - Sound of GameBoy, Runs on a GameBoy Emulator 🔶SNES Tracker - Sound of Super Nintendo 🔶1tracker – Sound of Atari 2600, and more obscure systems 🔶WaveTracker - Lets you draw your own wave forms to track with
🔶 Occasionally, the Chiptune Jam may require you to use a given SoundFont from a specific game instead of a Tracker, which can be used in a DAW of your choice in a variety of ways, so be prepared for that potential variation as well.
--------------------------
🔷 Work with the simplest possible ideas and expand from there
🔷 Rely on the Starter File, it is your friend
🔷 Get familiar with the community and ask for help when you're stuck
🔷 You do not need any musical equipment to participate in this music jam, just a mouse and keyboard
🔷 If you have no prior music experience, don't worry. This will be a great way for you to learn and grow using the abilities you have.
