Welcome to Chatsubo's first jam, which will start on the 27th June and run through to July 11th. The goal of the jam is to get devs working together, making and finishing small games.

Our jam theme is "one game, three stories". Your game should use three characters that tell one story from different perspectives and the retelling is slightly different each time. The idea is to make a short but polished game around this theme. It can be any genre or style - interactive fiction, RPG, Action, Visual Novel, whatever you want to use to explore the theme.

Even if you're not a writer or well-suited to the theme, we have writers in our server you can team up with. Join our Discord server to form a jam team or share your progress: https://discord.gg/NrdThkH

  • Mature themes are fine, just avoid sexual content and gore.
  • Follow the theme as best you can.
  • You may work in a team or as an individual. I would recommend you team up with others so you can finish with something much more polished.
  • You may use resources such as graphics, audio, code etc that were made prior to the jam, but the majority of your work must take place during this jam.
  • You may use any game creation engine/tools you want in the jam.
  • You may join multiple teams/games. Voting will be on the game submissions and not the participants.
  • Create your game within the time frame and submit it before the jam ends.
  • Rate other people's games fairly and honestly.
  • Have fun! (not mandatory)

Games submitted will not be visible until voting begins. Submitters and contributors will be able to rate entries and choose the winner. Once the jam is over, you will have 7 days to vote on your favourite submissions. The overall jam winner will be the winner of the "Best Use of Theme" category, but games will be judged on the following:

  • Best Use of Theme: How well does the game follow the chosen theme?
  • Most Innovative: Is there an original mechanic or idea in the game?
  • Most Fun to Play: Was it engaging and fun to play? Do you want to keep playing?
  • Best Graphics: Does it look good, does the style fit the game?
  • Best Audio: Do the music, sound effects and voice acting fit the game? Do they sound good?
  • Best Story: Is the story well-written? Good characters and dialogue?
  • Best Controls: How well does the game play?

There will be no prizes unfortunately except bragging rights and maybe a spring in your step.
