The CCAW jam is a game jam held by the Computer Club at WMU (https://cclub.cs.wmich.edu/).
The goal of the jam is to have fun, learn, and make something that you can show to others!
In short: make a small software project (doesn't have to be a game!) from scratch based on the theme and submit it by the deadline.
- Use any game engine, framework, and/or language. Just make sure you can easily export it and that it's easy for others to download and play. Exporting to a web browser will get you the most plays! Lots of game engines can do this, check your export options.
- Teams are allowed, but max team size is two, and you only get half of the fame, glory, honor and coolness ๐ if you win.
- Do not use any assets that you created before this game jam.
- Royalty free art, music, etc. is allowed, but please cite your sources!
- AI art, music, etc. is allowed, but please indicate what was made with AI!
- "Assets" includes art, music, and code, but using old boilerplate or using a game engine (even one that you wrote) is fine.
- You get the idea. It's about having fun and creating things from scratch. Just do things in the spirit of that. These are just guidelines to try to encourage everyone to have some hacking fun.
Games will be rated by people that submitted a game and the members of the Computer Club. The scoring criteria are:
- Gameplay - How fun is your game?
- Design - How fun are the ideas and mechanics from your game? How well do they mesh together?
- Theme Interpretation - How creative was your interpretation of the theme?
- Coolness ๐ - Coolness ๐
The theme will be announced RIGHT HERE IN THIS TEXT BOX right when the game starts.
Fame, glory, and honor, coolness ๐.
- If you need some game assets, here is a great place to start: https://www.kenney.nl/
- Try to export and submit your game an hour or two before the deadline. Exporting takes way longer than you think!
- Keep you game's scope super small! Just focus on one core idea and polish it! Avoid scope creep!
- Come up with an idea before you start coding! Stick with the idea, don't switch!
