About:

Welcome to the second Catamount Game Jam! This is a week long game jam hosted over break by UVM Game Development Club that is open to all students. Whether you're a studio art, computer science or music major, everybody has something to offer! Form a team that complements your skillset or go solo to create a game within the jam period.

This will be a fairly casual jam to get creative and develop your skills. Each game will be publicly voted on in several categories (Overall, Visual, Gameplay, Audio, Writing, and Theme) with automatically ranked results at the end of the rating period for some light competition. The rating period continues for a week after the jam, so you'll have time to play other entries!

And if you're new to game jams or game development, don't worry! Our Discord has helpful resoures for getting started even without any programming experience and is where you can join a team!

Rules:

  • The majority of your project should be created during the game jam. (Feel free to plan out ideas ahead of time, but things like visual and audio assets, code, dialogue, etc. should be made during the jam period!)
  • You may use premade assets as long as you adhere to their usage rights and credit properly.
  • AI-generated assets are not allowed.
  • You can use any engine you like, as long as people can easily access the game. (Yes, that means Scratch, Roblox, or Microsoft Powerpoint!)
  • No hateful or excessively graphic content. Basically, keep things university club appropriate and don't make anything that would violate UVM's Community Standards.
  • Your game must be uploaded as free to download for the duration of the jam period.
  • Your project should be playable, but it does not have to be finished. Don't worry about uploading something incomplete!
  • Have fun and scope small! Sleep is your friend, perfection is your enemy.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the club Discord or our Instagram!
