Welcome!
Cardinal Game Jam! is an inter-school event where interested SHS students from different schools collaborate to create a video game under a theme. The entire event will last over two weeks, with three (3) days of on-site events (e.g., an Opening and Closing Ceremony and a mini-fair) and roughly nine (9) days dedicated to the development, judging, and voting. Herein, the opening and closing ceremonies shall be held in the Makati Campus, and the winners shall be awarded prize money and various accolades.
Who can join?
- SHS Students from the Philippines can participate in the Game Jam.
- The participants must be enrolled in any senior high school in the Philippines for S.Y. 2022-2023.
- There are no age limits so long as the contestants are Senior High School students for S.Y. 2022-2023.
- The contestants must have registered officially through the registration form.
- The contestants must have a valid email address, personal itch.io account, and GitHub page.
Game Jam's Theme
- The theme will be "Catalyst."
- Submissions should follow the theme, and participants will be asked how their game fits the theme via the itch.io submission page.
While they are not required to follow the theme, the criteria will favor those who adequately fit it.
Game Jam Dynamics
The Game Jam proper is a team competition
- Participants shall consist of teams of 2-4 students.
- Each participant shall be in, at most, one team.
The Game Jam Development Period will begin on May 22, 2023, after the prompt release. The official end of the game development period will be on May 28, 2023, at 11:59 P.M. However, a two-hour extension will be given to submit late submissions.
The voting and judging period will begin at midnight on May 29, the day after, and will last for two days (May 29 to 30), ending at 11:59 P.M., May 30, 2023.
- The submissions must be suitable for a general audience and accessible for judges and possible players.
- Contestants must produce a digital computer game meeting the following minimum requirements:
- Able to run on Windows - or web browsers supported by Windows.
- Have a Windows/browser build. Contestants are free to provide support to additional platforms (e.g., Mobile, Mac, Linux) if they insist.
- It must be submitted to itch.io.
- Must be able to meet the following specifications:
- The contestants can create their games in whatever engine, programming language, or software they prefer.'
- Contestants cannot create games for consoles (e.g., Super Mario Maker levels or Dreams (PS4) creations).
- Contestants should not require the users to download additional software from external sources (e.g., external ROMs, games for Roblox).
- You can not require the user to print things out (so no board or card games).
- You can not require the user to have hardware beyond a keyboard and mouse (so no V.R. games, webcam games, and no controller-only games).
- The itch.io file limit is 1GB. You can compress your game as a ZIP, RAR, or 7Zip file (ZIP is preferred).
Submissions
Games should be submitted to itch.io. Participants can refer to external guides on how to upload their games to itch.io. They may consequently add additional details to their liking.
- The game must be set as free (or let the user select “any amount”).
- The game must be set as “released,” not “draft.”
- If you submit a Unity game and wish to provide a version that works on browsers, set the compression type to Gzip from Unity's WebGL Player settings.
You may submit the game at any point in the given days provided. However, there are an additional two hours at the end dedicated to submission.
- The game can still be modified upon submission until the development period ends.
- The use of A.I. while making the game is prohibited. The use of code, art, or music must be human-made.
Voting
There will be a two-day voting period after the development period.
- Uploads or changes will be locked.
- Do not put links to other builds and versions. Doing so will result in disqualification. What has been uploaded is what will be played and judged.
- Each team's participants must vote for a game at least twice.
- Failure to do so will result in a deduction from the final score.

Copyright
- Anything made during the game jam belongs to the property of the participants. The organizers claimed no rights or ownership of the participant's games.
- Any game submitted to the game jam may be used in promotional material without express permission.
