Canadian Game Developers - join us! #Canada150Game

[[*** Thank you to everyone who participated! Our jam was a success and a lot of fun! ***]]

This year, July 1st marks Canada's 150th birthday - our sesquicentennial! A variety of arts and media projects are happening across the country and we were wondering, why not games too?

This jam aims to create Canadian content in the form of games to celebrate the 150th. Open to Canadian developers of all sizes and skill levels across the country. With a long jam duration, we're looking to create some awesome games!

We will try to publish to a unified collection likely web-based. Details to come. Itch.io may be the solution.

Games Eligibility

Requirements

  1. Games must begin development on or after Feb 1, 2017 and be completed by the middle of June (to give us some time to organize and promote the games by Canada Day).
  2. Games must feature a Canadian theme in some way.
  3. Games must contain only family-friendly content.
  4. Games can be developed by Canadian solo developers or teams. In English or French.

Recommendations

  1. Developers should keep the scope and time-frame in mind when deciding the complexity of their game. Games which are not completed on time, will not be included in the final showcase.
  2. Recommended to keep the control scheme and system requirements simple.

Suggestion: to use the Canadian Penny as an in-game collectable, currency, etc to have a unified element across all games.
