Rules/Guidelines
- Lots of bullets!: The core of your gameplay must revolve around dodging, weaving, or surviving a relentless storm of projectiles.
- 10 Days: The majority of your game's code and assets must be created during the jam period.
- Team up or fly solo: There’s no hard limit on team size, but massive groups can become a logistical nightmare. We highly recommend keeping your team to 4 members or less.
- Windows or WebGL: Please ensure your game can be played via browser (WebGL) or as a standalone Windows executable. You can support other platforms!
- English please: Feel free to include multiple languages, but your game must be fully playable in English so everyone can participate in the rating process.
- NSFW? Please warn users!: If your game contains mature content, you must clearly mark it as NSFW. Please include an [NSFW] tag in your game's title or visibly on the thumbnail so players know exactly what to expect.
- Using AI? Let us know: This is first and foremost a creative challenge, so we strongly discourage the use of AI. If you do choose to use it, you must clearly disclose it in your game's description. You'll be asked about this upon submission, and we will be checking. Need clarification? Check out this post and drop by the Discord server to chat.
Rate & Be Rated
Ratings will be based on the following criteria:
- Fun: Is the core loop addictive? Did it leave players wanting more?
- Visuals: Does it look beautiful? Do the aesthetics burn themselves into our retinas in the best way possible?
- Audio: Is the soundtrack a symphony of destruction? Do the sound effects give those projectiles satisfying impact?
- Theme: How cleverly did you integrate the theme into your game's mechanics or world?
- Overall: The final, definitive verdict on your game's mind-blowing, bullet-hell greatness.
FAQs
Q: Are there any engine restrictions?
A: You can use any game engine, provided you can export a standalone Windows build or a playable WebGL version. Players shouldn't have to download additional client software (no Roblox, Dreams, or mod-based entries, please).
Q: Define "bullet hell"
A: If your game features a bunch of projectiles, you're in the right zone.
Q: Can I use pre-made assets or code?
A: Absolutely! General-purpose scripts, free asset packs, and base code are fair game, so long as the core identity of the game is created during the jam. Just make sure you have the legal right to use them, disclose your sources, and give proper credit on your game page.
Q: I need help!
A: Don't panic! Hit us up on the Discord server or drop a post in the community tab here on itch.io. We've got an amazing community ready to help you out.
