Many were excited to participate the original GM48 48th gamejam after long hiatus. It seems that because of small misunderstanding, people were waiting for the jam January 17-19. But the organizer has later clarified it will be during Q1 2026, and date will be announced later.
Therefore this is a unofficial warmup gamejam for those who were planning participating the original GM48 48th gamejam, but of course anyone else who is interested can also participate :)
This jam follows general rules of original jam, which can be read here: JAM RULES
Although this jam tries to follow same general rules as the original, keep in mind practicality. Notice this jam doesn't provide any free licenses, nor gives any prices.

To participate in this gamejam, you will need to create a game within 48 hours using GameMaker as your game engine. This means your entry must be either a game compiled with GameMaker, or a GameMaker project file. So participants with Free-tier may share compressed project file. This game jam is open to developers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Whether you are beginner or expert, young or old, artist or programmer, you are welcome to join in the jam. Just wait for begin of the jam and theme announcement at top of the page.
Game and artistic content must be created within 48 hours, except for certain exempt resources that must be credited and have sufficient intellectual property rights. These exempt resources include derivative works, widely-known free GML scripts, promotion content, generators, fonts, logos, brands, brushes, loops, drums, and instrument samples, among others. Because this jam is all about what you can do within 48 hours, use of generative AI's is discouraged.
To certain extent, you are allowed to brain-storm ideas and writing a game design document, but you may not start asset creation or coding before game jam officially begins. This includes drawing art sketches or creating code library to specifically to be used in the jam.
In the GameMaker, select File from toolbar. Then select Export Project and finally YYZ. Compressed project is single file, which is more convenient for sharing.
