WELCOME Blitz Game Jam is a 72-hour-long video game development jam that will occur once every two months on Itch.io.

A random theme will be chosen by spinning a wheel at the start of the jam to keep things exciting and unpredictable. Remember, limitation breeds creativity. This jam's theme will be announced at the start and is required for your game. Feel free to interpret it however you want.

No worries if you can't finish your game on time; submissions after the deadline will not be accepted. Late participants, check the Discord server for instructions.

Discord 

RATING At the end of the Jam, there will be a rating period that lasts 5 days. Your game will be rated on:

  • Enjoyment - How much you enjoyed your time with the game.
  • Concept - How interesting or unique the main focus of the game was.
  • Presentation - How well executed the main focus of the game was.
  • Use of theme - How well the game incorporated the given theme.

RULES

  • Read the rules. Not reading the rules is not an excuse for breaking them.
  • No AI. All code and assets must be created by human participants.
  • No old projects. You may only submit projects made within the time frame. We do check.
  • New art only. All art assets must be created specifically for this jam.
  • No submissions after the deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • No changes during the rating period. Once the jam ends, your submission is final.

Any games that do not follow the rules will be removed from the jam without warning.

  • Can I submit more than one game? Certainly! However, it's advisable to focus on one project for better quality.
  • Am I allowed to submit a game I've previously made? No, only projects created during the jam's timeframe are eligible for submission.
  • Can I make changes to my game during the rating period? Sorry, but submissions are final once the jam ends.
  • Which game engines can I use? You're free to use any engine or framework you prefer, including creating your own.
  • Are there prizes for the winners? The real prize is the experience and connections you gain!
  • Do I need to adhere strictly to the theme? While the theme is required, feel free to interpret it creatively.
  • Can I use assets from other jams? Absolutely, as long as you have the rights to use them.
  • What should I do if I miss the submission deadline? Check our Discord server for instructions on late submissions.
  • When does the next Just Jam start, and when will the theme be announced? Just Jam occurs every two months. The theme is announced at the beginning of the jam.
