Welcome to the first (possibly semi-annual?) Bit the Gnome's Spectacular Jam! Appease the gnome gods and create the best game that you can, all within a gut-wrenching 72-hour time period. If you have no experience, or if you are an experienced jammer, this event will suit you just fine!
THEME
The theme is 'Money is Key'. Enjoy!
RULES
FAQ
When is the jam and when is the deadline? The jam starts on April 15th and the submission window will conclude on April 18th. Results will be announced on April 23rd!
Do I have to do everything myself? Not at all! If you want to use public domain art/sounds or the like, that's entirely fine. And we encourage jammers to team up, too!
Can I use stuff I've already made? To an extent. The spirit of the jam is that you make something new, not rejig an existing game to fit the criteria.
Can I update the game during the voting period? No, unless it is a severely game-breaking bug. If this is the case, please contact the organizers on Discord. They will review on a case-by-case basis. Please playtest your game both in the engine and as an export on your itch.io game page!
APPEALS
If your submission has been removed by the organizers for a reason that is wrongful or that you can supply a fix to before the end of the jam, please contact BitTheGnome on Discord at BitTheGnome#1234. Unneeded or troll appeals will not be tolerated and may even result in a permanent ban from participating in future jams so please provide evidence and a good reason to be considered.
JUDGING
Jam participants and any contributors will be judging games on the following:
Theme: How well does the game adhere to the chosen theme?
Fun: Was it fun? Enjoyable?
Controls: How smooth is the game? Are the controls clunky or intuitive?
Graphics: Does the game look good? Does the art style fit the type of game? Is the pixel art charming?
Audio: How is the music? Does it fit? What about the sound effects?
Originality: Were you pleasantly surprised by some game mechanic or design in the game?
