The BEYOND GAME JAM is a one-week event by Indie Games Group Philippines held in celebration of Pride Month, designed to empower and help women and queer game developers create games about their own experiences in the industry.
What is a Game Jam?
A game jam is a short game development event where you work together with others to create a game, usually a small prototype. Game jams often have restrictions, rules, and/or themes in place to make them more challenging. They can help improve your game development skills, create and test ideas and concepts, connect with other people in the local industry, and so much more!
What is Indie Games Group Philippines?
Indie Games Group Philippines is an official chapter of Google’s indie community initiatives. It aims to nurture skilled and original thinkers by providing a supportive and empowering environment where game developers can come together to produce meaningful and impactful games that push the boundaries of the medium.

Theme
"Building Beyond"
If you’ve ever heard of the “glass ceiling” term used in the corporate world, it’s a frequent phenomenon that women and queers are often unable to advance their careers past a certain point, like a glass ceiling preventing their growth.
So, with our theme “Building Beyond”, we encourage you to create games that center around the lived experiences, struggles, joys, and identities of women and queers. You can do this through your game’s narrative, characters, or game mechanics.
When you submit your game, create an Itch.io page and include the following:
- Title
- Description of the game explaining what it’s about and how it focuses on the experiences of women and queers
- Team name, team members, and contributions
- Playable game
- Screenshots
Rules
- Conceptualization and planning of the game is allowed before the game jam starts. You may not, however, to begin working on the game before the game jam starts. Planning can include: rough sketches of characters, backgrounds, and/or CG's and making an outline of the storyline you plan to make your game on. Developing the game before the start of the game jam is strictly prohibited and your entry will be disqualified.
- You may join the jam as a solo developer, but we encourage joining as a team. Come to our networking night on June 14, 2025, or check out the Indie Games Group Philippines Discord server to find a team of your own!
- Games should be submitted before the deadline to avoid disqualification. We will only allow late submissions at the discretion of Indie Games Group Philippines.
- There is no restriction on the type of games you can create, but keep it Safe For Work (SFW).
- Games using AI or similar technology are required to be disclosed onto their game pages.
- Indie Games Group Philippines claims no rights or ownership of the games created and/or submitted into the game jam.
- Any game submitted may be featured in Indie Games Group Philippines social media and Discord server.
- In case of dispute before, during, or after the game jam, please contact the Beyond Game Jam team at the Indie Games Group Philippines Discord server.
