Assignment: Over our (extra long) break, find a game jam on itch.io that is not part of our class and join, making something in the context of the jam. (Also happening in March and an option: https://famicase.com/, where you make just the art for an imaginary cartridge, which is shown at a gallery in Tokyo. More about famicase here.)
We will share our projects with one another when we return. Your choice of tools is entirely up to you, but remember to scope small (think the 6 hours of class time we won’t have, plus a bit of homework time) and don’t spend too much time on polish. If the jam allows it, you may choose to extend or adapt previous work from this or other classes, or make a vignette scene out of a longer project. Every jam has its own rules.
You may also work in self-selected teams if you wish. Not finding a game jam that interests you? Itch.io is egalitarian and you can make your own. BUT if you do this I expect it to be public, with well-thought out prompts that might interest other people.
