This jam is now over. It ran from 2025-12-22 12:00:00 to 2026-01-09 23:59:59. View 2 entries

The Computer Games Unit of Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge and Chelmsford) hosts another laid back make-what-you-like online jam, with no voting or prizes or other pressure. The goal is to finish something, in a team or individually, and put it on itch.io (if it's not suitable for itch.io, e.g. maybe it's Artstation-shaped, put it somewhere else and tell us).

The theme:

Literally* Freezing! (*or figuratively)

I've started a new Discord server for this (and future events), so that everyone can meet up regardless of which of our partner organisations they're from: https://discord.gg/ujB6cNwSjf

If you don't fancy making a game (especially on your own), make something smaller: an art display or assets, a short TTRPG, a systems demo, whatever. Whatever you'd like to practise finishing.

This time I welcome our friends from Cambridge Regional College, Chelmsford College and Cambridge Game Makers, but don't worry, they're super nice and it's going to remain low-stakes. If you want to invite anyone else let me know; anyone being mean or making it stressful will be swiftly unwelcomed.

This time it's really really long. This isn't so you can burn yourself out for three weeks, just so that you can fit in a few hours here and there and add up to a 8, 16, 24-hour or whatever jam. Don't neglect yourself, your friends and family or your work or studies. I recommend keeping rough track of how many hours you spend, just for your own practice.

Little admin thoughts:

  • Make it playable in web if you can (quite easy in Unity, IIRC currently supported in Godot but not for Godot 4.x using C#, not supported in UE).
  • If you need to submit late, I can manually let you in. Get in touch.
