What is the Zodiac Marathon?
The Zodiac Marathon is our project to practice and improve our and your talent, whether it's design, coding, art, music or anything related to game design.
Each month following the zodiac dates a new two week long JAM will be hosted with a different theme, these will be called splits.
Every JAM will be separated, you won't need to participate in each and every one but our goal is to make a year long commitment to game development.
Zodiac
zodiac [ zoh-dee-ak ]
In astronomy, the zodiac is the band of sky along which the paths of the sun, the moon, and the planets appear to move.
The zodiac can be divided into 12 sections, each of which is named after a constellation (called a zodiacal constellation). These include Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Leo, Cancer, Virgo, Libra, Scorpius (Scorpio), Sagittarius, and Capricornus (Capricorn).
Despite its basis in astronomy, the word zodiac is mainly associated with and most often used in the context of astrology, in which it refers to a diagram (often a circular one) representing this belt and showing the symbols associated with each of the 12 constellations or sections, which are called the signs of the zodiac.
The Aries Split
The first astrological sign in the zodiac calendar is the Aries going from March 20th to April 20th, the perfect start for this project.
This split won't have a main theme and will begin on March 28th; however, entries will have to include "The Aries" in whatever way they can think of!
Submissions
Everyone is invited to join, if you don't have experience all the more reason to join!
Every entry needs to run on Windows or browser to be accepted, you can support other platforms but one of the two above is required to let a wider audience access your game.
There are no restrictions on tools, software and asset packs you can use but we encourage to try and form a team to start from scratch.
Will there be a ranking?
As this is the first JAM of the project there won't be a ranking.
Official Channels
To better handle the team formations and the communication between participants we created a set of channels in our Official SCRAPBUG Discord Server
SCRAPBUG
We are an independent group of developers currently publishing on Android and iOS and moving towards the Desktop scene.
Following the start of the 2020 pandemic we participated in a few JAMs ourselves and worked as a team onwards growing together, our hope is to inspire and drive others to pursue our common objective, producing video games.
