“Does this unit have a soul?”
             - Legion, Mass Effect 3

This jam is about writing games that explore feelings we as humans have towards our artificial counterparts, whether they are simple robots or digital intelligences. These feelings include affection, dependence, and even love.

Whether these games talk about a person’s dependence on their diligent Roomba or tell a story about a human falling in love with a life-like android, this jam will celebrate and explore the very real feelings and strong bonds that humans can have for artificial creations.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Write a tabletop, live action, or any other physical/analog RPG game that explores the emotional connections humans can form with artificial beings. These can be unique, standalone games or hacks, modules, or supplements of existing games (published with permission from the original author, of course!).  You are welcome to submit already created or submitted games to this jam, and multiple submissions are welcome as well.
  • Keep safety, accessibility, and communication in the forefront of your designs!
    • Utilizing the TTRPG Safety Toolkit by Kienna Shaw (@KiennaS) and Lauren Bryant-Monk (@jl_nicegirl) is highly recommended.
    • Be sure to provide a plain text version of your game if it is not screen-reader friendly. (You can use this tool to check for screen-reader compatibility)
    • Include warnings for your game if it includes any material that may be considered adult or sensitive
    • Games with bigotry or promotion of hatred towards marginalized groups are not permitted and will be removed. (E.g. sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism)
