ALT+CTRL@home 2026–2027
Weird Use of Ordinary Controllers

Let's make weird games with ordinary things!

What if your keyboard became a musical instrument? What if you had to hold your mouse upside down to drive a car? What if playing a video game meant using a spoon, a pair of scissors, or a household object in a completely unexpected way?

Welcome to ALT+CTRL@home, the game jam where
we turn ordinary controllers into extraordinary playful experiences!

Since 2020, ALT+CTRL@home has been celebrating alternative controller games that can be played at home. Whether you're an experienced game designer, a curious tinkerer, an artist, a student, or simply someone who loves experimenting with games, this jam is an invitation to rethink how we play.

Forget the usual controls. Break your habits.
Get creative with the devices you already own!

YOUR MISSION:
Create a game that uses a standard controller
in a weird, unexpected, or unconventional way.
