👵🏽👴🏿🍷 A MAZE. Online Game Jam : Aging 🌍🏰🎨

Time shapes everything. From the growth of a child to the decay of forgotten ruins, aging is an inevitable force that touches all things—people, places, thoughts, and even memories. Languages evolve, jokes lose their meaning, monuments crumble, and even once-beloved trends fade into obscurity.

In this game jam, we invite you to explore the theme of aging in all its forms—positive or negative, natural or abstract, joyful or melancholic.

Language & Culture – Words change, idioms get lost, humor shifts, and cancel culture redefines what’s acceptable. How does time reshape the way we communicate?

History & Monuments – Civilizations rise and fall, statues weather away, forgotten relics tell stories of the past. What happens when history is erased—or rewritten?

Time Travel & Paradoxes – What if you could speed up, slow down, or reverse aging? What if a joke from 200 years ago was suddenly relevant again?

Cosmetics & Physical Appearance – Beauty standards evolve, skincare fights time, and fashion trends cycle back. What does it mean to "age gracefully"?

Fruits & Vegetables – A fresh apple versus a rotten one. A vineyard where aging wine makes it better. Nature itself is in a constant battle with time.

Wellness & Mortality – Anti-aging products, fitness, medicine, and the pursuit of eternal youth. Can we truly outrun time?

Film & Media – Movies become classics or forgotten flops. Old-school animation versus modern CGI. What makes something timeless?

Personal & Abstract Aging – Memories fade, perspectives change, and people grow apart. What if a game’s mechanics aged along with the player?

Create a game that embraces aging in a unique and compelling way. Whether it’s a deeply personal story, an innovative gameplay mechanic, or a surreal experience, we encourage you to think outside the box. How will you capture the essence of time’s relentless march? Let’s find out together.

A selection of games will get exhibited during A MAZE. / Berlin 2025.

For this exhibition we will use the tool “Flipper” by Gianluca Pandolfo.
