Over the course of 48 hours (three days), we will come together to develop recreational projects that promote inclusion among people with and without disabilities
The goal of this event is to create friendships over work on multidisciplinary projects in a safe, healthy, horizontal, collaborative and inclusive environment.
Who can participate?
People with and without disabilities who want to work on inclusive projects in a collaborative manner.
No special skills are needed. This is a multidisciplinary exercise that benefits from each participant’s own unique abilities, skills and knowledge.
What tools do I need?
Bring whatever helps you do your work, though you might find no special tools are needed. Here are some things people typically use to work on projects: paper, pencils, colors, laptops, tablets, etc. None of these are required.
What will the days be like?
On the first day, we will have activities for promoting integration and we will reveal the secret theme that will inspire the projects. The teams will be formed, then everyone can get to work.
On day two, the teams will continue working on their projects with the help of special mentors who will be providing support throughout the event.
On day three, we will work for half the day, then all the teams will present their projects, whether they’re finished or not.
There are no winners. The idea is to meet other people, work as teams, share what you know and, most importantly, create inclusive projects.
Note: Food will not be made available at the venue, but participants are free to step out for a bite at any time. If you wish to sleep over, bring a sleeping bag and toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.) Keep in mind that there are no showers onsite.
Who are the organizers?
Ability Jam is an international initiative that sprang from One Click Jam, which began in Argentina in 2016 and was taken up by Bolivia and Mexico. The organizing team is the same but, unlike One Click Jam, Ability Jam focuses on disabilities of all types, not just motor disability.

FAQ
Is there an entrance fee?
No, entrance is free.
Someone in my family has a disability. Am I invited too?
Yes, it’s always more fun to share with the family.
Do I have to remain at the venue for the duration of the event?
No, you don’t have to. Teams are free to leave and work where they’re most comfortable. The only requirement is to be there on the last day to present the project, regardless of whether it’s finished.
Can I participate remotely?
Yes, remote participation is allowed, though you’ll miss out on meeting new people and all the fun that comes with it.
Can I bring a project that I have already been working on?
This is not recommended, but you’re free to do so. The secret theme that will guide all the projects will be revealed during the event during the event. We do this to ensure that all teams start from scratch and all the projects are entirely new.
What exactly do people do at a Game Jam?
Work and play! A Game Jam is a creative, collaborative event meant for experimenting and creating games and other recreational objects. Participants talk, play, propose projects and work together, to present their games at the end of the event.
Is knowledge of programming, design, music, etc. required?
No, no special knowledge is required. We all created games when we were children and we still have that ability. Videogames and board games, specifically, are rarely created by a single person. They are usually the work of a group of people who perform different tasks depending their abilities. We expect the same to happen at this Game Jam: teams will distribute the work among their members according to each individual’s skills.
What happens if we don’t complete a project?
Nothing, it’s not a problem. We know 48 hours is not enough time for most commercial and professional projects. The purpose of the Jam is to meet, have fun and experiment. What really counts is what we learn by participating and the friendships we build by working together.
Do I have to bring a laptop or computer?
No, bringing a computer is not required. Board games and outdoor games are always an option.
Is the event suitable for children and teenagers?
The event is not geared towards for minors but that doesn’t mean they can’t participate. Children and teenagers can participate if a parent or guardian is with them at all times. Teenagers over 16 can be by themselves if they have written permission and waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

Invitación a reunirnos para crear juegos, juguetes, arte, cortometrajes, animaciones, y tecnología accesibles e inclusivos.
En un periodo de 72 horas ( tres días) nos encontraremos para desarrollar proyectos lúdicos que fomenten la inclusión entre personas con y sin discapacidad.
El objetivo de éste evento es generar lazos de amistad trabajando en proyectos multidisciplinarios, en un ambiente seguro, saludable, horizontal, colaborativo e incluyente.

¿Quiénes pueden participar?
Personas con y sin discapacidad que deseen trabajar de forma colaborativa en proyectos incluyentes.
No se requieren habilidades especiales, se trata de un ejercicio multidisciplinario en donde todos los participantes aportan desde sus capacidades, habilidades y conocimientos.
¿Qué se necesita para trabajar?
Cualquier herramienta que te ayude a desempeñar tu trabajo, aunque hay ocasiones en que no requieres de herramientas especiales.
Comúnmente, para desarrollar los proyectos la gente utiliza: Papel, lápiz, colores, computadora (laptop), tabletas digitalizadoras, entre otras herramientas. Ninguna de ellas es obligatoria.
Cómo son las jornadas de trabajo?
El primer día se harán actividades de integración y se revelará el tema secreto sobre el cual todos los equipos deberán desarrollar sus proyectos. Una vez revelado el tema se formarán equipos y podrán iniciar su trabajo.
Durante el segundo día los equipos seguirán trabajando en sus proyectos y tendrán asesorías de los mentores que apoyarán en el evento.
El tercer día los equipos seguirán trabajando hasta el medio día y finalmente se realizarán demostraciones de los proyectos, se hayan terminado o no.
No hay ganadores. La idea es que los participantes vengan a conocer gente, trabajen en equipo, aporten todo lo que sepan, y en especial, creen proyectos incluyentes.
Nota: En el recinto no se proporcionarán alimentos, los participantes son libres de salir a comer en el momento que lo decidan.
En caso de querer pernoctar en el lugar deberán llevar bolsa de dormir o cobijas, artículos de higiene personal como cepillo y pasta de dientes, y desodorante. Deben tomar en cuenta que no hay regaderas en el lugar.
¿Quién organiza?
La Ability Jam es una iniciativa internacional surgida de la One Click Jam 2016 iniciada en Argentina y secundada por Bolivia y México, realizada por el mismo equipo organizativo. A diferencia de esta última, los juegos ahora no sólo estarán orientados a discapacidad motriz, sino a todo tipo de discapacidades.

¿Tiene algún costo?
No, es absolutamente gratuito.
Soy familiar de una persona con discapacidad, también puedo participar.
Sí, siempre es más divertido si se comparte con la familia.
¿Debo permanecer los tres días en el evento?
No, no es obligatorio, los equipos pueden ir a trabajar a otro espacio más cómodo, sólo deberán presentarse el último día para presentar su proyecto, lo hayan terminado o no.
¿Puedo participar a distancia?
Sí, es válido participar a distancia, pero te perderás de conocer a más gente y divertirte con ellos.
¿Tengo un proyecto avanzado, puedo llevarlo?
No te lo recomendamos pero sí, puedes llevarlo para buscar colaboradores. En el evento se revelará un tema secreto que será el eje de todos los proyectos, lo cual permite que todos los proyectos sean elaborados desde cero, ésto también da la posibilidad de explorar nuevos proyectos.
¿Qué se hace exactamente en un Game Jam?
Trabajar y divertirse. Un Game Jam es un evento creativo y colaborativo donde se busca experimentar, crear juegos y otros objetos relacionados con el entretenimiento. Los participantes platican, juegan, proponen los proyectos y trabajan para mostrar su juego al finalizar el evento.
¿Se necesitan conocimientos de programación, diseño, música...?
No, no se necesitan. Todos hicimos juegos en nuestra infancia y podemos seguir haciéndolos. Hablando específicamente de videojuegos y juegos de mesa, es muy difícil que los haga una sola persona, comúnmente es trabajo de varias, las cuales se reparten las actividades según sus habilidades, y eso es lo mismo que esperamos en ésta Game Jam, que se repartan las tareas según sus habilidades.
¿Qué ocurre si no acabamos el proyecto?
Nada, no ocurre nada, sabemos que 48 horas no es tiempo suficiente para terminar proyectos de corte comercial o profesional, el jam es para divertirse, convivir y explorar. Lo más importante es todo lo que aprendemos de participar en éste tipo de eventos y las relaciones de amistad que logramos hacer ahí.
¿Es obligatorio llevar Laptop o computadora?
No, no es obligatorio. Siempre está la opción de hacer juegos de mesa o de patio.
¿Es apto para niñas, niños y adolescentes?
No, no es un evento apto para infantes y adolescentes pero tampoco quiere decir que no puedan participar. Si quieren hacerlo deberá estar la madre, el padre o tutor todo el tiempo acompañándolo. En caso de ser mayor de 16 años, podrá permanecer en la ausencia de su madre, l padre o tutor, quienes deberán firmar una carta de autorización y responsiva.
