I had so much fun making my A Voyage Through Space music pack, that I thought it might be fun to host a jam based on it.
Theme
The theme is SPACE, obviously!
How you interpret that is up to you. The only proviso is that you use the MIDI files provided (more on that in the rules section).
Rules
- You are provided with 11 melody MIDI files (download from my Google Drive) - one each for the major planets of the solar system (including Pluto, because Pluto is a planet, no matter what those "experts" at NASA* say), the Moon and the Sun.
- How you use them is up to you. Some options might include:
- Change the key.
- Change the mode (they're all minor keys, because that's how I used them).
- Use the melody as the basis for a chord progression.
- Interpolate them.
- If you're a mad scientist, mash them all together and hope for the best.
- When you submit your project, you will be asked how you used them.
- Use as many or as few of the MIDI files as you like (minimum of one (1), for obvious reasons) . If you only want to submit a single track, that's fine. If you want to go the whole hog and submit an entire suite, that's fine too.
- Your project page should ideally include a screenshot of your DAW project(s).
- No AI, preferably. Obviously, there's no way I can verify that you haven't used AI, but this is an honour system. You will be asked if you used AI when you submit your project. Please be honest.
Prizes
Sadly I'm broke, so I can't offer prizes. :(
If anyone wants to sponsor the jam, hit me up!
* I'm not against NASA**, I think they've done amazing work. I'm not some sort of weird anti-science nut. I just think declassifying Pluto as a planet was a bad idea.
** I also know it was the IAU, and not NASA that downgraded it.
