Welcome to the 8th Annual Louisiana Tech University Game Jam!

We are thrilled to host this event, which brings together talented game developers from across the country for a weekend of creative collaboration and competition on campus at Louisiana Tech University, School of Design.

When.Where

The game jam will take place from 5pm Central US time April 12 >> through >> 4pm Central US time April 14, 2023, and will be hosted both online and in-person at the Louisiana Tech University, School of Design's TVAC building located at #1 Mayfield St., Ruston, LA 71272. Participants can choose to attend either online or in-person, whichever suits them best. In-person participants will be provided food throughout the weekend and qualify for prizes.

Participants will register for the event through our game jam site here on itch.io and then post their completed games to itch.io/jam/8th-annual-louisiana-tech-university-game-jam. All submissions must be submitted by 4pm Central US time on April 14th, 2024.

Theme

Theme for this year's jam will be announced on April 12th at the beginning of the jam. Remember that your entry will be judged based on how well you implement the theme, but you can interpret it however you like.  We encourage participants to interpret this theme in their own unique way, and to let their imaginations run wild. Whether you're interested in creating a puzzle game, a platformer, or a narrative-driven adventure, there's no limit to what you can accomplish during this event.

Participating

Join us no matter your skill level - this game jam is a perfect opportunity to create your very first game, or build a prototype for your next commercial hit.

You can use #latechgamejam hashtag on Twitter to share your progress, ask for feedback, see what others are building and hopefully help them out if they need it. There's also a Discord server for direct communication!

Submitting

Submit an EXE game between April 12th and 14th 2023. It can be a solo submission, or a team effort (max 6 participants).  You'll submit your game here to itch.io and post as a FREE game.  Also make sure that you post all necessary files and include Screenshots and a Video Sample.

Voting

Voting will be by judges invited to the Jam.  Games will be voted on based on a given criteria: InnovationThemeGameplayGraphics, and Audio. The Overall ranking will be based on the summary of those.  In addition to the satisfaction of creating a game in just a few short days, participants will also have the chance to win prizes in several different categories, including Best Game Design, Best Use of Theme, and Best Art and Sound Design and Most Innovative.
