This jam is now over. It ran from 2025-01-24 18:30:00 to 2025-03-10 03:59:59.

Indianapolis-based hard rock/metal band Remember Me is releasing a new single on Mar 10 (Mario day!), titled 8-Bit. The music and lyrics are centered around real life and an 8-bit world, and escaping either one to be in the other. We are partnering with local computer science teacher, Rich Lemke, at Franklin Central High School to complete an 8-bit themed "game" for our release. This would be uploaded to an arcade cabinet to be 'played' by an individual in our music teaser/video.

NOTE: this does NOT have to be an actual game, just the intro... keep reading to see the details!

The original idea is as follows:

  1. The game would open up to a plain screen, with 'LOADING' in 8-bit font on the page, pulsing in and out.
  2. After a short time, the band name 'Remember Me' would show, and underneath "8-Bit - Demo", again in an 8-bit font. A few seconds later, "Start", "Load", "Controls" would pop up on the start menu.
  3. Of the menu options, "Controls" and "Start" would be the only ones that would need some functionality. "Controls" could actually show the controls on how to function the demo, and "Start" would actually start the demo.
  4. Once "Start" is selected, it will take you to a "Select Character" page, in which the 8-bit sprites of the band members can be selected. When a band member is NOT hovered over, it would be our plain sprite. When the band member IS hovered over, it will be our sprite with our instrument. Once the sprite is selected, there could be a pop up "Are you sure you want to select this character?" or something similar.
  5. The page could then slowly start to fade to black. Once the page has stayed black for a few seconds, the audio build up of an audience and cheers would begin.

Essentially, that's all the idea's we have and all that we'd need created. If you would LIKE to make an actual full fledge game, go for it!! We'll have it linked and posted on our band page and credit will be given where credit is due, regardless of how far you go!

Attached below is a sheet with our individual characters, with and without instruments, and instruments by themselves. Also attached is a link to a Google Drive where you can find the music for 8-Bit! Any other audio queues or visual media will have to either be created or found elsewhere.

Thank you SO much for your consideration in helping us do this project. If you're interested, follow us on socials on Facebook and Instagram at Remember Me Band and on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.
