Theme:
The theme of this jam is:
A devine presence.
We always tell tales about gods, demons and ghosts. A presence watching from above messing with us. We either love or hate the idea of something or someone watching over us. Whatever they do it could be big or small. Maybe there is nothing or something. It can be hidden or in plain sight. It can be evil, good or complicated.
You are free to interpret this however you like.
Lifeform of this jam:
The lifeform of this edition is the cat.
Cats are some of the most effecient vertebrate hunters. They form the base of the catlike line of carnivora. Some species of small cats have a succes rate of upwards of 95%.
Cats are very effective and often cause extinction of other species.
In many cultures cats are considered holy. Christianity excluded cats from the bible to be different from other religons by not viewing cats as devine. Black cat later became the pets of witches as they hunted pest that caused plagues and those owners were deemed witches for not getting sick. Their black colour was also seen as dark and evil at that time.
Cats came to be pets because when humans first started living in homes rats and mice followed. The cats followed their prey and slowly became more tollerated by humans and more tollerate towards humans until they had shifted to pets.
Cats are always watching, stalking, messing around and when it's time they can strike. Almost like a lingering presence.
You are free to interpret this any way you like. This is not a criteria that your game will be judged on.
This jam is practice your skills and get feedback on your games. You are encouraged to leave helpfull feedback on other submissions. Avoid hurtfull comments as this jam is meant to encourage game devs.
