Weird Locations, part 29!

Back again with two more locations!

The first is the Micro Zone. One of the many "Sci-Fi" locations.

A realm of subatomic particles. I think the main inspiration for this was Ant-Man,

and one episode of Billy and Mandy. The main loot from here are the Ki & Bo Particles.

These both have size modifying effects, shrinking and growing respectively.

Each particle also has a corresponding creature, both named for a linguistics test,

because I just liked how the words sounded.

The layout of this most strange place came from a system I created for asteroid fields,

and one which you will see again in this book.

Of all the Weird Locations, I think this one stands out as one of the Weirdest!

The next location has a certain philosophic weight to it.

The Torture Pit. This location originally started as two different ideas.

The OG Torture Pit, which was something of a Hell stand in,

and would have been populated by "Clive Barker" esk creatures.

And the Prism Prison. A realm inspired by an episode of Adventure Time specifically,

and the general idea of a "Space Prison" more broadly.

The rules for Not Dying and taking more Aliments came from the former.

Everything else came from the later. I decided to merge them,

because Prison basically is just torture. This is easily my most political location.

I decided this location would be a sort of Gladiator battle.

To aid this I added the d10 chart of Combat effects,

to avoid just wacking each other in an empty circle.

I also added a few unique creatures to this location.

Firstly there is The Warden. Easily one of the most cruel and sadistic characters in this game.

He exists as a commentary on the logic underpinning the prison system.

He exists to have power over people, and inflict his particular moral agenda on others.

As for said others, there are three unique prisoners. Each with sympathetic backstories.

One of them was in fact inspired by a real prisoner.

Lastly, the reward for being here. I added the bonus to Con & Cha.

As the brutal environment changes you.

All in all, its a heavy location, that fans of Combat and Torment will like.

As for everyone else? I'm not sure.

Well, I hope you've enjoyed these very contrasting locations.

Stay tuned for the next 24!
