In this "Handoff Jam", Tune Jammers compose music for Game Jammers!

In Phase 1, Tune Jammers will compose a tune based on the given prompt.

In Phase 2, Game Jammers will develop a game using soundtrack created by Tune Jammers!

“Creature Feature!"

Compose a tune which features a horror monster.

Some examples of a horror monster include:

• Witch
• Clown
• Vampire
• Werewolf
• Frankenstein's Monster (aka Frankenstein)
  
• Spider
• Pumpkin
• Yokai
• Golem
• Leprechaun

In film, a Creature Feature is a subgenre of horror that focuses on a monster.

🎵 How to Participate

IMPORTANT: by submitting a tune to this jam, you agree to release your work under Creative Commons Attribution.

1. You will spend 2 weeks composing a tune. Remember to incorporate the jam's prompt!
2. Record/export your tune as an audio file (MP3, WAV, FLAC, etc).
3. Upload your tune to itch.io before the deadline.
4. Come back to this page and submit your project.
   

Each tune will be scored based on the following criteria:

I. Melody

How creative was the melody? Was it memorable? Catchy?

II. Accompaniment

How effective was the accompaniment? Did it support the melody well?

III. Jam Prompt

How well did the tune capture the jam's prompt?

Tips and Restrictions

• Your tune must be an original composition. Covers, arrangements, etc. will be disqualified.
• The use of AI-generated music is strongly discouraged. If you absolutely need it, you must declare so when submitting.
• Remember basic composition techniques such as melody, harmony, accompaniment.
• Respect plagiarism/copyright laws where applicable. We will not claim responsibility for copyright infringement by participants.
• We reserve the right to disqualify offensive, defamatory, suspicious or any other unsportsmanlike submissions.

Why is a Creative Commons Attribution license required?

The intention of Handoff Jam is to create simple, free game music for game developers. We selected the Creative Commons Attribution license because it gives the composer recognition for their work while also giving developer access to great soundtrack.

What do I turn in?

Please upload an audio file of your tune as MP3, WAV, FLAC, or OGG.

Can I update my itch.io page after the jam period?

Yes.

Can I work as a team?
