Hello, and welcome to Quarantine Jam, a new online Game Jam, hosted by Lebanese Game Developers and taking place on our LGD discord! An online event on an online venue!

What is a Game Jam? A game jam is a fun, creative and collaborative event, where groups of people, sometimes friends or sometimes strangers, work and help each other to create a game. Everyone is given a theme and 48 hours to make one game. After you're done, you submit it here.

Whether you're an artist, programmer, designer, musician, writer, veteran game maker or newcomer. Everyone is welcome to join!

Game Jams are usually done on a large site, but this will be an online jam, so it will be on a WEBsite. (We 'd show ourselves out for that pun, but we're under lock-down)

We're all staying home, so why not use this time to have fun and make some fun games for ourselves and others!

We're even going to stream some of the best games once the Jam is done!

Join us in this special online Game Jam! Remember to stay safe, wash your keyboards and انضب بالبيت (p.s: Make sure your keyboard is waterproof)

FAQ:

What is The Theme? In case you missed our keynote live-stream, The theme is: " انضب/Pack ".

You can watch the full keynote and announcement here if you want as well: https://www.youtube.com/lebgamedev

Do I need to be Lebanese or living in Lebanon to participate in this Jam? No, the beauty of an online Jam is that you participate from anywhere.  Though expect this event to skew towards a Lebanese audience.

What am I expected to make? A game, any kind of game. It could be a boardgame, a video game,  card game, an escape room, a social game or even a party game. And those are just examples of what some people have done here in some Lebanese Game Jams in the past.  Let your imagination run wild.

What do I need? Not much, a pen and paper, or your best laptop, or your favorite Arduino kit, and possibly some friends (those are useful,  if you don't have any, we will make you some).

I’ve never made a game before, can I still participate? Of course! Game jams are about learning, experimenting and having fun. If you’ve ever had interest in making a game, this Jam is a great place to start.

Do I need to have a team? Is there a limit for teams? No, you could work on your own. If you do form a team, make sure to maintain social distance in these times. Schedule some Skype sessions, Google Hangouts or use our LGD discord to communicate with each other.

And no, there is no team limit. Though, we recommend no more than 4 people for a game jam. The more important thing is to have people filling these roles: Programmer, Musician, Artist and Designer, maybe writer as well. One or more people could take more than one role, but try to make sure you have all roles filled.

Can we use pre-made assets, art or music? Sure, but make sure whatever you're using is free to use or open source. And please credit the original creators.

Is it okay if I join late? Of course! You are the master of your own time.

Can I submit a game before the deadline, and can I submit more than one game? Yes, and yes.

Can you help me with finding resources like art or some tools? Here's a link to a comprehensive list of resources. You can find literally anything you might be looking for there. From game engines, assets, task managers,  source control, recording software etc...

I'm having a problem, can you guys help or offer guidance? You can try reaching out and asking questions on the forums here on itch, or you can try asking our community by joining the LGD discord

Now go and make a game!
