Whoaaaaaaa, I really loved your game!! The sprites, animations, backgrounds, music, sound effects, the arcade-like gameplay, and even the font! It all meshes together so beautifully!! Ahhh, I loved it and the retro-yet-modern-city-like aesthetic! (Power is so cute, too~) But now I'm curious! Who is this Vegetable Devil, and what are their motives?! Really, you have created a wonderful game! I am so glad to have played it! Excellent job, my friend! ^^

One thing, though! Unrelated to the game itself but relevant nonetheless, I think: Can you see if it's possible to make a WebGL build as well? Not for me, of course, but I feel that some people might be a bit put off by the fact that they have to download something, which will decrease the chances of them playing your game, somewhat.. and I would like more people to play your game, it is so fun and exciting~

I'm glad you liked the game!

As for the Vegetable Devil, it manifested from the fears of the people who fears vegetables, such as that it is not that strong at all, however, Power just innately fears the taste of vegetables and makes that devil only stronger whenever its in her vicinity. The motives of the Vegetable Devil is still unknown, but so far, it seems to enjoy following power as it feeds to her fear.

Regarding the HTML5 build, I've already released it but I found out that the depletion of blood is imprecise, as well as the gain blood from the enemies. With this, the game is more forgiving, and so I removed it. I can't upload it since the gameplay is not intended and it eliminates the risk from shooting Power's blood. In addition, I cannot upload a patched (or more like optimized, for HTML5) web version of it and have it as the one that's being presented in the playable embed as it would be against the rules of submission.

Of course, the patches can still be available during the voting period (they are just excluded from voting), but as much as possible, I'd like to present the same version that I passed before the deadline in the playable embed.

TL;DR: I uploaded an HTML5 build, the same version I passed before deadline, but it's imprecise with some floats in WebGL and the depletion of blood is from very minimal to none.

Still, I appreciate very much the thought, and I understand your point, so I'll consider it and reupload the aforesaid HTML5 for more accessibility to users! Thank you for playing the game!

nice arcade game!

the game looks polished, the art is really good and feel juicy, and the music is also good (I know it's not yours, but it fits to the game)

Thanks! I thought the same in regards to the music.

The composers did very well, and I thought that they kinda fit so I incorporated them in the game! By the way, my favorite BGM among them is the Great Boss by Spring Spring, the one that plays during the boss battle.

Also neat to have the game being thought of as an arcade game. I did intend for it (a bit) to seem like it with how the score is written/formatted and the BGM playing in pre-boss.

nice shooter game I wasted my blood the first try on the bats till I noticed I was using up my life rapidly so just decided to stop shooting at them entirely since they took so many hits and drop a lot less blood then I lost it seemed to kill any of them. Nice work on the art liked the background and clouds were really nicely made.

Developer

I didn't intend the life bar to go unnoticed while firing, so I'll make it bigger on a small patch.

Happy to hear your thoughts about the art! It really took a long time, and noticeably, the number of buildings does not fill the entire parallax background, as for that, I was having a difficult time to finish the others so instead I scrapped them and turned into that plain, grass field and horizon. Which is why I appreciate it very much, thank you.

Moreover, for me it was the buildings that were stressful to make, while the clouds are the most fun ones to do as I simply love the fluffiness of these silly things!

i  would imagine they looked like they were pretty high pixel counts I try to keep my stuff in 32x 32x tiles for game jams max so I don't go to crazy and start making art that will take me days to make but then again I seem to always work alone on jams if I worked in a team then I could focus on that or programming and not worry about time.

Whoa, this game is super polished! The art, music and sound design are all great, and the concept of using your blood as weapon is pretty cool! (At least for me who hasn't watched CSM, hah). I think with a bit more variety of enemies and spice this game would be addictive as hell. Great work!

Developer

Glad to know your thoughts about the game! You're right, a couple of enemies would definitely change how the game is being played, considering that there's nothing much at the start pre-boss, so I'll keep that in mind for a patch!
As for CSM, well, I definitely recommend it, especially the author's other oneshot manga/works (they're one hell of a ride).

The art looks fantastic and the sound design is really polished and fit the game really well! Great job!

Developer

Thank you! I'll practice more with art.

As for the sound design, sadly, I didn't make those, but knowing that it fits the game is reassuring. I'll also try to compose music and SFXs next time.

POWER!

Really good art! Everything is so stylistically well done. Really appreciate the Power changed expression when she lost a lot of blood.

The beginning is kind of boring cause we only need to dodge the bat until we reached the final boss and then when we reach the final boss it's just a matter of balancing shooting and getting blood.

Good work!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I agree on the start of the game, there's not much to do at that point, unless the player wants to score up more, however, there are no things that will encourage the player to do so.
Regarding her expression, it was fun doing its changes (also the overall art) so I'm glad you like those!
