I really wish there was a tutorial because I’ve got no clue what I’m doing! I figured out how to move, but I kept getting hit and frozen, and I’m sure there’s a fantastic game here if I can figure it out. Sorry!
Nice rhythm game. It was pretty fun once I sync up to the beat. The other instrumental tracks took a good couple minute to kick in, so I suggest introducing them sooner. The enemies could use some improvement as well. Towards the latter stages of the game there seems to be too many enemies on screen to avoid. I also suggest adding a tutorial on what the enemy colors mean, because I never figured that out.
500! No clue wtf was going on :D Could use a bit of an explanation
Love the idea of this so much. A rhythmic avoidance game? Fantastic.
I had some issues with the movement—either I kept falling out of rhythm, which may well be the case as I am not a very rhythmic person, or inputs would randomly start failing. When that happened I could usually press a different direction and get going again, but that really could just be "re-aligning" to the rhythm. Hard to say. It was definitely difficult to persuade the game to let me free if an enemy overlapped the player in the same square, though.
Honestly, already a fairly solid game, but with another polishing pass and a bit more *oomph* to the music, I think you'll have something great.
(Another commenter mention the bubbles—I read those as, like, dancefloor spotlights? Were they? Now I am curious.)
A fun premise for a game - rhythm x keep away.
I found I kept getting unpleasantly stunlocked on hit. Not sure if that is due to the controls being unresponsive, me missing timing, or an enemy effect, but I would love to have that clearer in game. Or alternatively, on hit, maybe you just get bounced out of contact?
Music seemed very quiet and not very fleshed out. Would have loved a little more variety, especially for something where its so key to the experience.
I didn't love the blurry font on the lose screen.
37,700 was my high score. Premise made sense. Not really a dance off but more of a keep away game. Didn't quite understand how to get the bubbles to help, but it was nice having the triangle hats telegraph where they were planning to move. I was hoping for a little bit more in the way of sound design or background music, but it got the job done. Nice job!
