A suggestion if I may. Rolling constantly stops gameplay, and that isn't something that would be in a speed based game. Unless I am stupid and you are supposed to avoid situations where you roll. Randomized health buffs are great!

How does your game fit the theme?
The weapon the player is using at any given time is at the mercy of the roll of a die. When the player runs out of ammo, they are randomly assigned a new weapon and must complete the level with this new weapon in mind. Also, health checkpoints along the path restore a random amount of health based on a separate dice roll.
