Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Rules:
   • By registering for the Geekdom Game Jam 2024, all participants agree to abide by the event’s Rules and Regulations.
     
     
2. Eligibility:
   • Participants must be 18 years or older to register as a team leader. Teams must consist of 1 to 3 members.
   • Teams with members under 18 must have an 18+ team leader responsible for the team.
     
     
3. Intellectual Property:
   • All intellectual property created during the Game Jam remains the property of the participants.
   • By submitting their games, participants grant the organizers and sponsors, including Media City, Doha Film Institute, and Scale7, the right to use and publicly showcase their games for promotional purposes, including but not limited to online platforms, social media, and media outlets.
     
     
4. Submission Guidelines:
   • Games must be submitted by 6:00 PM on November 23, 2024.
   • Late submissions will not be considered unless an exception is granted by the organizers.
   • All submissions must adhere to the provided game submission guidelines.
     
     
5. Originality and Licenses:
   • All assets, including code, graphics, and sound, used in the game must be original, free, or properly licensed for use.
   • Participants are responsible for ensuring that no copyrighted material is used without permission.
     
     
6. Judging and Prizes:
   • Games will be judged based on creativity, fun factor, core functionality, and presentation, with the possibility of bonus points for optional elements.
   • Decisions of the judges are final and cannot be contested.
   • Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the organizers and based on the judging criteria.
     
     
7. Code of Conduct:
   • Participants are expected to behave respectfully toward other participants and organizers throughout the event.
   • Harassment, inappropriate behavior, or violation of the code of conduct may result in disqualification.
     
     
8. Communication and Event Updates:
   • Participants must remain active in the designated communication channels to receive important updates and instructions from the organizers.
   • The team leader is responsible for ensuring that their team complies with submission deadlines and event requirements.
     
     
9. Disqualification:
   • The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any team that violates the rules, submits plagiarized content, or behaves in a disruptive manner.
   • Disqualified teams will not be eligible for any prizes.
     
     
10. Media and Promotion:
    • By registering, participants agree to have their names, likenesses, and gameplay footage featured in event-related promotional content.
    • The organizers and sponsors may use this content for marketing and promotional purposes without additional compensation.
      
      
11. Liability Waiver:
    • Participants acknowledge that they are participating in the Geekdom Game Jam voluntarily and at their own risk.
    • The organizers, sponsors, and event partners are not liable for any personal injury, damage, or loss of property during the event.
      
      
12. Privacy Policy:
    • Personal information collected during registration will be used solely for the purposes of the event, including communication, updates, and prize distribution.
    • Participant information will not be shared with third parties outside of the event's organizing and sponsor teams without explicit consent.
    • Zoho ensures data encryption both in transit and at rest, providing protection from unauthorized access.
    • Participants can request access, modification, or deletion of their personal data at any time by contacting the event organizers.
      
      
13. Modification of Terms: The organizers reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Participants will be notified of any significant changes through the designated communication channels.
