This is a tabletop/traditional Game Jam for the /gdg/ Game Design General community in Discord and 4chan's /tg/, and not meant to be a public jam.

What?

Come on now, we've done this before. A Game Jam is an event where designers create games over a designated and limited period of time, and submit it for everyone to look at and judge. Starting June 1st, you have up to two weeks to create an original traditional game FROM SCRATCH. RPG,  wargame, cardgame, boardgame, anything goes, as long as it's /tg/-related. It doesn't have to be a fully realized game, you can present a prototype, but it needs to be functional and playable.

The Theme, or Lack Thereof

Just like the first DEV OR DIE Jam, there is no set theme, but you can use the 24-hour RPG Thread chart to generate a random theme for your game. Just ignore the 24-hour limit and stick to your themes.

The Winners

Everyone with an itch.io account, participant or passerby, can vote on the submissions. After the submission time is over, the three days following the submission period will be open for voting the games based on the following criteria:

  • Potential: The concept behind the game, regardless of length or execution. How much potential for expansion and replayability does the game at its core? Is it worth continuing/finishing development?
  • Mechanics: Rules and inner workings of the game itself - how functional is the game, and most importantly, is it fun to play?
  • Presentation: Visual style of the document, including but not limited to design, art, text format, readability and organization.
  • Theme: Anything that affects the narrative, fluff or feeling of the game, both as a core concept and during play.

These categories are ranked with a 5-star system, and an Overall score will be determined from the average scores. The Overall Winner will get a reward! Each category will have a winner of its own, ranking among the special mentions pinned in the server and remembered in our hearts.
