Collectible. Trading. Living. Expandable. Whatever word comes first, #CCGJam is about card games with a LOT of cards.

Maybe you've never been able to be part of the consumerism-driven hobby before. Maybe you are, but are growing tired of corporate disinterest toward maintaining quality. Maybe you used to be, until capitalism killed off your investment of choice. Maybe you never showed interest until it was "too late," or because you wanted it to be so much more. Well, now's your chance to join others in crafting your vision of what games can do with hundreds of little paper rectangles.

Of course, it'd be a MONUMENTAL undertaking to try and produce an entire balanced body of synergized cards supported by a robust yet flexible rules system. If that's your dream, this is the perfect place to chase it! But this jam is also a welcoming home to any fraction of a "complete" CCG that you want to make and share.

Possible entries:

  • a full CCG with both cards and rules
  • cards without rules
  • rules without cards
  • cards for someone else's rules
  • rules for someone else's cards
  • alternative game formats
  • lists of new keywords to incorporate
  • a CCG card generator
  • an RPG in which players play a haphazardly described CCG whose exact rules are nebulous at best

For excellent examples of what can be done with CCGs, take a look at Catalyst by Natalie LibreCollectible Trading Moon Game by Abe Mendes, and Trading Worm Game by... a lot of people.

The only real rules are to respect intellectual properties and people in general: don't use content you don't have the rights to, and don't be harmful or hateful. Tag content if required, and make it clear if you welcome riffs on your submission(s). Aim to achieve accessibility in all its forms. Submitting previous works, partial works, and multiple entries is all fair game! Share this jam and what you made with #CCGJam.
