So, I think I'm going to stick with GameSalad for the games, even if it means the games are mostly being exported as html5. As for the test games, they've sort of been put on hold while I was playing catch-up with NaNoWriMo after having to rework my chapter outlines. Luckily it wasn't too bad, but the outlining process took longer than anticipated. I'm going to start really doubling down on the game work. Most of them are still in the planning phase, so I think it's time to pick and choose which to start with and begin writing the stories.
Since I'm going the choose your own adventure route, I'm going to tackle it in a series of outline passes. The first will be the main story. The second will be one branch of results. leading to a different ending, and I'll do the same for the other endings I have planned. I've already started doing concept sketching for some of them, so once I have the outlines taken care of I'll move onto thumbnailing.
The one thing they don't tell you when it comes to choose your own adventure games, it's mostly writing and drawing, the actual game making is the easy part. I mean, choose your own adventure games at the core are mostly figuring out how to click an option and change a scene. The most bare basic game you could make, arguably right up there with a platformer. So I'm going to get to all of that. Luckily I got ahead of myself on my NaNoWriMo goal for the start of this week, so I should be able to shift focus to the games.
Step one after posting this, picking the games I've been planning and seeing which will work as a true starter.
