It was nice to invest myself completely in all the little moments Sunset Bird had to offer. Never thought I'd shed tears so often over the simple acts of fictional characters, but with the way you've written these people, I can't help myself when they go ahead and melt my heart. I guess this should've been expected when I saw the "feel-better" descriptor.
But really, I'm glad I got to stumble upon this. Just hope you'll continue to knock it out of the park with any future stories; your writing talents deserve it.
I'm confused. I want to get the DLC packs, and also the 18+ moment when it comes out. I have the game on Steam. Can I buy all the DLC packs on Steam, then get the 18+ moment through Patreon and use it with my Steam game? Or should I download the game through Patreon/Itch, then buy the DLC packs and 18+ moment through there as well? I just want everything to all be in the same place. I don't want to have my Steam game + Steam DLC, then a whole seperate game version just for the 18+ moment. Also, would I get to access Step 4 sooner as a patron, or would it be immediately available on Steam?
Admitedly, people were pretty excited about the idea of new content and it's unfortunately been kind of overblown. The Patreon Moment is just a bonus reward side story. It's not comparable to the actual DLCs and it isn't part of the real game. The file for it is a separate download whether you got Our Life on Itch or Steam. There's no way to combine the bonus scene with any of the main builds, since they're different things. I'm sorry for the confusion.
There will be Step 4 beta builds available early on the Patreon, but the fully polished version won't be released ahead of time on the Patreon.

It's possible you have a pop-up blocker/virus scanner that's stopping the download. Maybe see if you can temporarily turn those off or using a different type of browser to try downloading it. Or sometimes it says 'forbidden' but what it really means is that it can't be done because there's not enough space on the device. So clearing out room for it might help. I hope one of those works!

Hi, today I bought the DLC for step 3 and tried downloading it on my android and updating the app but when I did so, my previous files disappeared along with the events from the two previous DLCs. I tried reinstalling the app and the previous DLCs but the events still wouldn't unlock. Could you provide me with a solution?
I'm sorry for the trouble! There was a problem where older versions of the DLC would go ago when you added a new one. But if you uninstall everything, install the current base version of the game, and then add the DLCs it generally works with everything there. Did you only try uninstalling/reinstalling the DLC parts or have you gotten the most recent base game too? Also are you downloading through the Itch.io App or directly from the game's page? You could try doing the opposite of whichever method you used before. Some devices work better one way and some work better the other.
I came into this game thinking the extreme emphasis on player choice was interesting conceptually, but pretty skeptical that it would really work in a way that didn't just feel like a high effort gimmick. I am pleased to report that was not the case at all.
It's honestly really hard to describe my experience with this game and how it made feel. The story of the game and it's mechanics mesh together beautifully. It doesn't feel tacked on, it feels like a really crucial part of the experience. I'm used to branching conversions in games being a strategic thing, puzzling out the “right” responses to get the the “good” ending. But this game truly doesn't have any wrong answers or bad endings. But at the same time it still really feels like your chooses are significant and meaningful. It matters that you're you. If you where swapped out with any other generically nice person the story would be very different.
As a fairly anxious person it was honestly really cathartic for me to be able to get into that head-space for a while and feel like what I was saying mattered, without worrying about saying the “right” thing. Kinda brought home for me how much I sometimes struggle to achieve that in real life. (Though in a way the felt reassuring rather than simply making me feel bad about myself.)
Obliviously, I can't guarantee everyone will get as much out of this game as I did, But I can confidently say it's a unique experience that's worth your time. <3
Ive always sucked at RPG kind of games like this, but because there was only one love interest, it was easy ti go all out on him haha. Cove is a sweet and sensitive boy and this game was so wonderful to play, I couldn't stop! Loved all the personalisation details and although it doesn't really matter, it also does! At one part, MC could even wear headwear which made my hijabi little heart very much included <3 highly recommend this wonderful game.
i never really played visual novels before but i found this game on youtube and now im addicted to them thanks for that im happier now i love this game only part is when the other derek and baxter dlc come out im gonna play them but its gonna hurt me inside to go against poor cove i already saw adult cove and i cant wait for step 4 to come out keep up the great work i wonder if they plan on making another vn like our life
Finally got around to playing this, right after I played XOXO droplets and realized it was the same studio! Imagine my pleasant surprise when I saw Shiloh and Jeremy. shiloh was my boy of choice in droplets-- so I really loved that. hehe!
The only thing I can do is thanks everyone who made the game. I really LOVED this game and can't wait for the new content. The art, the story, the characters... Everything was so perfect! This for sure will be one of the games I most enjoyed playing.

I stumbled across a post on Tumblr mentioning this game and I decided to check it out cause I was bored. I was never interested in visual novel games before, so this is my first ever and OH MY GOD, I've fallen in love with cove and the game as a whole. I couldn't control myself and bought the DLCs after finishing the free base game. I'm going to be sad when this game ends, but still, I CANNOT wait for step 4! I think this marks the start of my visual novel addiction, haha.

We do hope to have it there for Steam eventually, but have no idea of when it’ll happen. Apple requires special notarization to be an officially accepted app for their devices. We don’t have that. Steam requires having that, Itch will let you release it as an non-notarized third party app. That’s why Itch is the only place that has the Mac version right now.
This is soooo cute and wholesome. I absolutely love it and HIGHLY recommend it. Probably one of my favorite visual novels I have read, and I haven't even finished it yet <3 .

I absolutely love this game. I love visual novels, and I'm so glad I stumbled upon this diamond. The story is lighthearted but fascinating — it made me feel a lot of emotion as if I'm really in there, inside the game, and together with the characters. Every single one of them felt truly alive, with their own stories and emotions and feelings! I also love the variation of each choice, Cove's growth, and how everything is different depending on the MC's attitude and feelings. I love this game so much to the point I've it three times within the first four days I downloaded it! Having said that, I have a question about the game's DLCs as I am planning to purchase them all!
When I purchase the DLC, will it be automatically added to the game? I'm playing on mobile, so I don't know how it works! Can you please tell me how it works to make sure that I won't mess up? Btw, it really is a great game! Looking forward to more. :DD
It automatically adds it to your existing game. I purchased DLC after starting to play and it installed on my Android phone just fine. Make sure to save before downloading the DLC just in case it restarts the app.

I'm overly in love with this game, I love how every aspect is customization. I love the fact that it is so LGBTQ+ friendly, and that you can change your pronouns and name overtime. I love how you can choose everything, even if it doesn't have much of an impact, it makes the game feel really tailored and personal. Also, I like during the sandwich making if you make the same sandwich as Cove it has extra dialog. Amazing game :)

If I can get stuck in a game for the rest of my life I'd choose it to be this one without a doubt, I'm so happy that I managed to find this gem. This game only has male LIs. Cove, Derek and Baxter will always be the only romance options. You're allowed to be attracted to more genders than that since there's no reason to erase someone's full spectrum of preferences, even if in this situation they've chosen to pursue a guy, and because there are many people who don't like guys at all who play the
game purely for wholesome friendships.
Cove is the only lead romance option of the game, there wasn't a way to fit someone else into the story who had equal time/attention. It would've been insulting to make a female or non-binary LI who was second fiddle to Cove. So, the side LIs are the same gender as him and OL: B&A is a dude friendship/romance sim. It was either that or have no side options at all. We're just weren't gonna ask people who like other genders to play this game because we threw them a small bone.
I had no idea a second game was in the making until this very moment. But I can say that I’m very excited now and very sure I’ll fall in love with it the way I did this one.

More otome should be like this one. Designing your own character the way YOU want, not preset in the game with everything decided for you. That is why I avoid the genre mostly, but this is special. This is what otome should be. More than happy to support this as much as I do.

I loved this game! I've played this game four times already, and I'm going to play it all again because this is the best visual novel game with a customizable protagonist I've ever played. I'm so freaking excited for the Step 4 to come out !!!
I'm having a hard time working out how to add the DLC's to the game so I can play them, I'm playing on Mac. How would I add them so I can get the DLC's unlocked?
OKAY this might be really hard to follow since I suck at computer things and English is my second language but I'll do my best: so obviously step one is to buy the dlc and download it. Then, when you're at the itch-page for the dlc, press the little cog symbol in the right corner and then press "manage". Press "show in finder". Your computer will now show where it has neatly stored the files and stuff in a little folder for you. Open that folder and duplicate all of the files and put them in a new folder and name it something so that you'll remember which DLC it is or whatever. Put that folder on your home screen in the meantime (just drag it over there and plop it down). You'll need it soon but for now just put it there so you can easily access it in a minute.
Then you go to the itch page for the main game. Again, open it up to find the "manage" and then "show in finder". The computer will now open where it stores the files for the game. Double click on it. Then right click on that and click the "show package contents" option. The next folder should be called "contents" or something similar. Double click that. Then choose the one called "resources". Then "autorun". And then lastly the folder called "game". Hopefully it's stored here, otherwise just click through all the folders until you find the one called "game". Open it by double clicking. Then you take your dlc-folder you left on the desktop/homescreen thingy and just drag it in here. Just plop it down.
Basically what it boils down to: the dlc files needs to go into the "game"-folder for Our Life.
That should be it and the dlc should be added to the game.
I'm really sorry if it was hard to follow, if you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best. This is what I did to install the dlcs because it was the easiest and they work perfectly so hopefully it will work for you too.

I tried to find the folder called "game" when I tried to open the game but I didn't find any files instead I just saw this. So I tried to just add the DLC files to that but it still didn't work out for me.
I played this game and I just have to say that its was amazing and I fell for the boy next door who lives with his single father and in game has known me for over a decade

Cove is the only lead romance option of the game, there wasn't a way to fit someone else into the story who had equal time/attention. It would've been insulting to make a female or non-binary LI who was second fiddle to Cove. So, the side LIs are the same gender as him and OL: B&A is a dude friendship/romance sim. It was either that or have no side options at all. We're just weren't gonna ask people who like other genders to play this game because we threw them a small bone.

More otome should be like this one. Designing your own character the way YOU want, not preset in the game with everything decided for you. That is why I avoid the genre mostly, but this is special. This is what otome should be. More than happy to support this as much as I do.

I wish someone like Cove actually existed in my life but oh well~I am super excited for the 4th Step coming soon and if it somehow ends at the 4th step then I hope the ending will be a banger for sure!

I loved this game! I've played this game four times already, and I'm going to play it all again because this is the best visual novel game with a customizable protagonist I've ever played. I'm so freaking excited for the Step 4 to come out !!!
I'm having a hard time working out how to add the DLC's to the game so I can play them, I'm playing on Mac. How would I add them so I can get the DLC's unlocked?
OKAY this might be really hard to follow since I suck at computer things and English is my second language but I'll do my best: so obviously step one is to buy the dlc and download it. Then, when you're at the itch-page for the dlc, press the little cog symbol in the right corner and then press "manage". Press "show in finder". Your computer will now show where it has neatly stored the files and stuff in a little folder for you. Open that folder and duplicate all of the files and put them in a new folder and name it something so that you'll remember which DLC it is or whatever. Put that folder on your home screen in the meantime (just drag it over there and plop it down). You'll need it soon but for now just put it there so you can easily access it in a minute.
Then you go to the itch page for the main game. Again, open it up to find the "manage" and then "show in finder". The computer will now open where it stores the files for the game. Double click on it. Then right click on that and click the "show package contents" option. The next folder should be called "contents" or something similar. Double click that. Then choose the one called "resources". Then "autorun". And then lastly the folder called "game". Hopefully it's stored here, otherwise just click through all the folders until you find the one called "game". Open it by double clicking. Then you take your dlc-folder you left on the desktop/homescreen thingy and just drag it in here. Just plop it down.
Basically what it boils down to: the dlc files needs to go into the "game"-folder for Our Life.
That should be it and the dlc should be added to the game.
I'm really sorry if it was hard to follow, if you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best. This is what I did to install the dlcs because it was the easiest and they work perfectly so hopefully it will work for you too.
hi! thank you so much for the help, I tried to follow your instructions but sadly it didn't work for me. I tried to find the folder called "game" when I tried to open the game but I didn't find any files instead I just saw this. So I tried to just add the DLC files to that but it still didn't work out for me.
Here's a folder path for Mac. You might have to right click the application launcher and select "view package contents" to reach the proper folders.
