Good stuff this week! New PCs, color-coded inventory, new spells, and a "convo-cam"
The end goal is to have a total of 9 PCs for the player to build their party with. I may change out some of the character models, but for now, I have the 9 PCs I was shooting for. Hooray!
Lisa, one of the new additions, has a new spell called Meteor Shower that I think turned out to be pretty darn cool. I also created a fireball spell as a generic projectile ability that I can attach to just about any character.
I call it "convo-cam". It's a pretty simple feature that ended up being harder to implement than I thought it would be. Basically, when the player enters into a conversation, the camera now zooms in on the NPC, and when the conversation ends, the camera returns to its regular set-up. It still needs some tweaks, but I think it's a nice improvement over the always-static camera I had before.
Items now have a "rarity value" and are color-coded as follows: common = green, uncommon = blue, rare = purple, ultra-rare = orange (unoriginal, I know, but I see no need to reinvent the wheel here). I also added a "sort by rarity" option to the inventory window.
And that was my week in game-dev. The next step is going to be a multi-week project: fleshing out all the PCs. I'll be working on their backstories, primary roles, abilities, etc. Thanks for stopping by, and until next time ... happy gaming!
