As many of you might already know, Itch.io recently announced significant changes regarding NSFW content, including the deindexing of all NSFW games. You can read their full statement here: https://itch.io/updates/update-on-nsfw-content.
At Crimson Lines, we strongly believe that there should be clear limits on what kind of content is allowed. We absolutely do not support games that promote things such as rape or pedophilia. Those types of content should have no place in any creative community. It's important to show and talk about it, but not PROMOTE!
However, we also believe that these cases are a minority within NSFW games, and this blanket decision punishes countless creators who produce respectful, artistic, and narrative-driven adult content.
Unfortunately, due to this policy change, we are forced to place The Hero of Solfernum on hiatus until this situation is resolved. A project like this cannot survive without proper visibility, and this decision by Itch.io effectively does the same to many other NSFW projects, it hides them from the audience entirely.
We sincerely hope that the platform will reconsider its approach and find a solution that protects creators while still enforcing reasonable boundaries.
For now, development is on hold, but this is not the end. Once the situation changes, we’ll be ready to continue telling the stories we’ve been working so hard on.
Thank you all for your support and understanding.
